Project : Gt 11 oil leak Repair work

Introduction
In Riffa power station, GT 11 Transformer observed minor leak in the bottom header
valve. This report describes the activity of arresting the leak with recommended action .

Scope of work:

• Oil draining from the main body of Transformer

• Replace the defective valve
• Transformer Evacuation and oil filling
• Oil filtration

Description
1. Physical Inspection:
Before attending the leak , Transformer and leakage valve was completed inspected for
any other damages or abnormality .

2. Material shifting:
After confirming the valves leak , oil storage tank , filter machine and Vacuum machine
are mobilized to site .

3.Oil Draining:
Before attending the valve leak, header valves are closed from both main body and
radiator ends. To ensure the leak from the valve , initially small amount of oil drained
from the bottom radiator tank .

After dismantling the bottom line, noticed that no oil leak from the outside portion of the
valve .

4. Transformer Main body oil draining:

As per supervisor instruction , main body oil was drained to oil storage tanks.

5. New valve Replacement:
After completing the oil drainage, existing valves was removed and new valve replaced
with gaskets and ensured the proper tightness and cleaned .

6. Transformer Evacuation:
After valve replacement, vacuum was applied to the transformer.

7. Oil filling and Oil filtration:
After desired vacuum level reached , oil was filled back to the transformer and
circulated.

8.Oil Result:
Oil sampled was taken and breakdown voltage test performed.

9.Pressure Test:
Pressure Test was performed in GT11 to ensure no leakage from the transformer.

10. Handover:
After final Inspection ensuring no leaks, recommended oil level in the conservator , and
proper housekeeping Gt11 transformer handover to customer.
