What does Autodesk Inventor’s associative functionality allow us to do?

The Associative Functionality allows us to change the design at any level, and the system reflects
it at all levels automatically.

How do we move a view on the Drawing Sheet?


To move a drawing view using “drag and drop,” simply click on, hold and drag the drawing view
listed in the feature tree and drop it in your desired location. When dragging it over a new sheet,
a yellow arrow appears over the new location, indicating the drawing view is being moved.

How do we display feature/model dimensions in the drawing mode?


Retrieve Dimensions dialog box and set the Select Source option to Select Part. All
the dimensions used to create the part are now displayed in the selected view.

What is the difference between a feature dimension and a reference dimension?


1.The Feature Dimension is deleted form the display, but the removed Dimension still remains in
the database. In other words, the Feature dimension is turned off or is hidden. Any feature
Dimensions can be removed from the display just as they can be displayed.
2.Feature Dimensions: Are dimensions used to create the features. (Used to control geometry)
Reference Dimensions: Are controlled by existing geometry.
(We can add or delete Reference Dimensions, but we can only hide the Feature Dimensions.

How do we reposition dimensions?


By using the left mouse button and drag the dimension text to a new location.

What is a base view?


The first drawing view we create is called a Base View.

Can we delete a drawing view? How?


Yes. Drawing views can be deleted just like any other objects. Simply pre-select the view and
hit the [Delete] key.

Can we adjust the length of centerlines in the drafting mode of Inventor? How?
Yes, the length of centerlines can be adjusted while in the drafting mode. The following example
illustrates the procedure. Left-click on the centerline to select it. ... The length of the centerline
will change.
