MALIN KUNDANG

One upon a time lived a fisherman family in the coastal of the sea those are husband,
wife and their son named Malin Kundang . This family was poor, so his father went to work
in other country .

Father : “ Malin and mom, I want to go find some job in another country to earn a
living for our family.”

Mother : “ Why don’t you find in here with us? We need you always in here if any
something with us.”

Father : “I can’t find a good job to get a good financial for our family.”

Mother : “ I know it. But, where do you want to go?”

Father : “ I don’t know, but I want to go now. Please, take care our son, Malin.”

Mother : “......take care yourself wherever you go and wherever you are.” (sad)

A week, a month, and already a year his father never came back to home. So, Malin’s mother
changed the role of father for Malin and earned a living for their family. She worked to meet
the needs of their life until Malin grown up. He felt so pity, because his mother worked every
day for their life. Until one day, Malin wanted to work in other country to helped his mother.

Malin : “ Mom, I want to work in another country hope I can’t help you to earn some
money for our life.”

Mother : “ No, Malin. If you go to another country, I’m lonely in here dear.”

Malin : “ Mom, I can go home one week for visit you in here.”

Mother : “ You will so tired if you go home one a week dear. I also worried if
something happens with you in there.”

Malin : “ I will be fine, I can keep ourself. I already adult, Mom.”

Mother : “ Malin, but in here I don’t have anyone except you my son.”

Malin : “ Yes, Mom. I know. But I’m very sorry and pity of you. You always work
hard for me and for our life. I think know is time to me to help you.

Mother : “ All right, if is it good for you. I give you permission to go to onother country.
But you must promise with me, you will come back for me and accompany
Mommy in remaining age.”

Malin : “ Sure..?! you give me permission to work?”

Mother : “ Yes dear. But who are you going to go with?”

Malin : “ I want to go with ship merchant. I will be reach people.”

Malin made his Mom believe and than give permission for him. Then, his mother prepare
supplies and equipment for Malin Kundang. After that, Malin ready to go. He delivered by
his mom went to dock. Before He go to by ship,her mother gives a message for him.

Mother : “ My Son, if you already successed and become a reach people, don’t forget
with your mother and your hometown, dear.”

Malin : “ Yes, Mom.”

Mother : “ Take care, my son.”

Malin : “ Thank you, Momy.” (shake hands)

Then, Malin gets on board and his mother rises her hand for Malin. The Ship that brings
Malin more and more is far from her. In the Ship, Malin learn many things about ship when
in his journey. He becomes know many thing. In his journey, his ship got a problem. Then,
He decided to find near village from his place. He get a good place. It is a beautiful and a
good place for planting. Malin very diligent and always try to plan everything in this place.
Until, he become a reach people and has many employee. One day, Malin falling in love with
a beautiful women until he can getting married with her. They lived happily together.
Someday, they went home to Malin hometown.

Malin : “ This is, beautiful place honey.”

Wife : “ Yes, it’s so beautiful. Why you never tell about your hometown?”

Malin : “ ... beacause I want to give you surprise about this. “ (smile)

Wife : “ I’m so happy, I love this place very much. But where is your house.”

Malin : “ Now, We fine good place for us. Don’t ask about this.”

Wife : “ yaa.. all right honey.”

Sudennly, there was an old women came in front of them.

Mother : “ Maliin.. is thhis you dear?”

Wife : “ Who is she honey? Do you know who is she? She knows your name”

Malin : “ I don’t know, who is she. She is poor one.”

Mother : “ Maliin.. I’m your mother. You are my son.”

Wife : “ is she your mother?”

Malin : “ No, she is not my mom. She is poor, she is dirty. She is beggar. She wants to
get our money.

Mother : “ Malin, what do you say!!!!! I’m your mother. I didn’t want your money. I
only miss my son. I only want to meet you for a long time.”

Malin : “ But you are not my mother.”

Mother : “ I never think you can’t become a like this. You forget your mom. You forget
someone who make you in here. You are ungodly, you like a stone.”

Malin : “ I’am Sorry, Mom. Place don’t give me condemnation like this.”

This condemnation is already become true. Finally, Malin Kundang become a true stone.
