Description of Learning and Teaching
1. Our class is going to practice answering grammar questions
using QR Codes. There will be QR Codes posted around the
class together with its grammar notes.

2. We have spent approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes (3 period

lessons) before this lesson.

3. In the first two period lessons, students, in groups of 4 or 5,

analysed a common grammar error found in 5 essays written by
their classmates. They discussed the type of error and started
gathering grammar notes.

4. In the next one period lesson, the students, still in the same
groups, quickly compiled grammar notes in Google Docs to
collaboratively produce a comprehensive note on the selected
grammar errors. Then, they collaboratively produced a set of
relevant grammar questions. The elected leader of each group
chose 13-15 questions. S/he used Google Form to create a quiz
then generated a QR Code.

Stages & Activities

1. Create learning stations by pasting QR Codes together with its
grammar notes on the class wall.
2. Assign a cell phone to students in pairs. (students bring their
mobile phones and teacher keeps them safely locked away, only
allowing students to use them during lesson)
3. Model process of scanning QR codes and answering quizzes.
4.Compile points gained for each quiz.
5.Calculate points and determine the winners.
Conclusion
QR Codes made answering quizzes easier as students were
effortlessly directed to the quiz pages simply by scanning the
codes. The prepared notes helped students to be ready to an-
swer the quiz while the availability of internet facilitated access
to more explanation on any grammar components. Besides that,
the use of internet has facilitated classroom learning, it has also
helped honing student’s internet search skills.

Reflection
The exposure to QR codes and the use of mobile phones in
the classroom has elicited a positive response from students.
Students express their heightened engagement and increased
learning enjoyment while using the devices

Next Step
Implement more student-generated learning materials in a col-
laborative atmosphere.
