GRAPHITE AND TURKEY-

Graphite is one of the most important industrial mineral. It is a
crystalline form of carbon and is one of the most stable forms of
carbon. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity due to its
layered structure and owing to this property it has emerged as an
important mineral. Graphite typically is found in metamorphic rocks
because of the reduction of carbon compounds during the process of
metamorphism. China, Mexico and Canada are the largest exporters of
graphite in world. Graphite is used in making electrodes for
battery which is a multi-billion industry. Graphite is used to make
pencils, brake linings for auto-mobiles and even in steel
production. European Union has identified Graphite as the most
important industrial mineral due to its versatile use in many
leading industries. Turkey has vast deposits of graphite but due to
lack of innovation and support the utilisation of this natural gift
is very poor. So the aim of our company is to profitably extract
this mineral and establish Turkey as leader in Graphite exports.

GRAPHITE MINING-
Graphite is majorly mined by using open-pit or underground methods.
In open pit method, the rocks are very close to the surface and
hence no digging is required. They are mined directly from the
surface and then processed further. A process called quarrying is
used in which explosives are used to break bigger rock into small
pieces and then it is processed. Underground mining methods are
used when the mineral is not close to the surface. Techniques like
drift mining, hard rock mining and shaft mining are used in
underground mining.
