Schedule: Monday 4:10 – 4:55 p.m. ; Tuesday: From 4:10 – 5:45 p.m. and Wednesday
From 3:20 – 4:55 p.m.

Course Description: In this course you will be dealing with


grammar structures and concepts on an intermediate level in
sentences and paragraphs, verb tenses, readings, dialogs,
idiomatic expressions and general vocabulary, necessary to
communicate in an oral and written way. Besides this, you’ll
also be dealing with vocabulary and concepts regarding to
your field in English.

Instructional Methods: Students will work individually and


collaboratively to achieve course goals.

Assessment Methods: Students will:

 Improve their knowledge of the language.

 Increase their reading comprehension and writing skills


through dialogs, reports, essays, etc.; using correct
grammatical structures and coherence.
 Learn general vocabulary and technical words about
their field in English.

 Be asked to keep a Portfolio of activities done in class


and assessments of their learning.

Course Content: The class will tentatively follow this


agenda.

Units 4 to 6 (Class development & Formative Activities) (May 25th –

Leveling Activities prior the Final Exam (June 29th –

Final Exam
Grading: The final grade will be weighed as follows: -
30% Participation 5%, Class Assignments: It may include workshops,
homework’s,

Investigations, translations, writing sentences or elaboration of


dialogues

30% Partial Tests (2) and / or Quizzes

40% Final Exam

Course Policies:
Attendance: You are expected to attend all classes. If you arrive late during group work,
you will not be entitled to the group grade/assessment.

Participation: You are expected to contribute significantly to group and whole class
discussions as your performance on both will be evaluated by peers and instructor.

Missed tests/Assignments: Tests and assignments will not be accepted after the due
date. The only way you can be excused is; if you present a formal and valid excuse
immediately the following class and the teacher will establish the new presentation date.

Classroom behavior: Be respectful to your teacher and classmates. Avoid


interruptions (coming in-and-out the classroom). Turn your cell phones
“off” or “silent” while in class sessions: online or face-to-face.
