Critical Thinking in College Education
Education is the process of learning for us and every individuals to gain understanding and
attain knowledge that we could use in the future, As the part of process, We are developing our
knowledge through Schools and Universities that serves as an instrument or a place where we are
innovating our skills and gaining understanding through interaction and discussion, By the same
token, College Education is another level of education as it make opportunities and a pathway to
choosing of about what our life will be like after graduating. According to a blog named YourStory,
“College is a place that offers many courses out of which students can make his/ her own choice”,
It simply defines that being in a college or a university is a part of planning our path and success
to pursue a profession that provides us more knowledge with own skills and abilities that will
shape our future.
As a student, learning is not just about studying something to achieve a specific rating or a good
grades, Learning also includes the process of analyzing information that we are using on every
academic research and even in our daily life problems, In addition, to be able to find an answer or
a solution to a specific problem, We are tend to think something beyond, in order to find an answer
to our various questions.
Critical Thinking is the ability to interpret something through our own evaluation, examination
and analyzation of every information that we are gathering, it is important to maintain this skill
not just to criticize but also to be able to gain more knowledge aside from what we already know.
According to Figliuolo (2016) Critical thinking is the ability to think reflectively and
independently in order to make thoughtful decisions.
Moreover, through Critical Thinking, we are rehearsing our minds to be more creative to solve
such things spontaneously, it will result to a well prepared interpretation that enables us to answer
certain questions with our own perception maintaining a specific position that seeks all the sides
of an argument or a context. “Critical thinking is thinking about your thinking while you’re
thinking in order to make your thinking better. (Paul, n.d.)
Thinking critically will also help us to make a stronger point and evidence-based answer to
effectively prove an answer with the methods of evaluating and analyzing the gathered information
that supports our stand or argument.
In conclusion, Critical Thinking in our education improves our ability to apply a creative thought
towards an argument or a question, It also helps us to be more creative in synthesizing information
through our own analyzation in order to solve a problem that also interconnects with our skills to
create alternative solutions and the ability to make decisions in life
