Teacher candidates in this course, for their culminating task, are presenting a symposium
on contemporary topics of interest in the early years (Pre-kindergarten to Grade 2).
Fleming ECE students will also be sharing pedagogical documentation.

The topics of interest are:

Supporting Speech & Hearing Through Play


Spatial Reasoning
Land-based Learning
Self-regulation
The Power of Play
‘Play at your own risk’
Taking The Inside, Outside
Technology in the Early Years
Let’s think about thinking

Working in groups, TCs have researched their selected topic and planned play based learning
activities that support literacy and numeracy development within the area of interest. Sample
activities will be demonstrated during the symposium.

This symposium will be of interest to TCs…first and second year and those studying in
other academic disciplines e.g. psychology, sociology, nursing etc.

Members of the University are invited to drop by and visit!
