Board 3, Time 10-11
11 am, Faculty Members-
Mem 4
Myself: May I come in sir?
F1: Yes, Come in.
Myself: (Greeted each faculty with Salam)
F4: Please have a seat.
Myself: Thank you, Mam.
F2: (Taking my student information form from me) Tell me about yourself which is not written
here.
Myself: (Avoided
ded mentioning some qualities, rather told them what I actually do regularly). I am a
sports-loving
loving person. I love to play cricket and basketball. I also follow all international cricket
matches and NBA matches.
F2: Then who is the captain of England cricket
cricket team? (Hearing the question deep down in my
heart I said, “Game on” ;).. Because the grip of Viva is now in my hand.)
Myself: Alistar Cook (test format), Eoin Morgan (one-day
(one format), Eoin morgan (T--20 format)
F2: Comparing with several corporate professionals,
professionals, a lot of sportsmen are incoming excessively.
Do you think that, it is acceptable?
Myself: Yes, Sir. They are facing stiff competition to make it to the club or national team.
F2: So, Corporate professionals aren’t facing too much competition?
Myself:
lf: Yes, they are. But the players are facing more.
F2: How? Can you please explain?
Myself: There are only 15-20
20 players playing in Bangladesh National team out of thousands of
cricketers in Bangladesh. The cricketers’ only ambition is to get into the national
national team. But the
corporate professional have a wider range of opportunities.
F2: Yes. You are correct to some extent. But the main reason is business.
Myself: (I nodded with smile)
F3: Do you follow football?
Myself: Yes, sir. But not as much as cricket and basketball.
F4: So what else do you do besides playing and watching sports?
Myself: I watch TV series, Mam.
F4: What genre of TV series?
Myself: Drama.
F4: Name 2 of them
Myself: Game of thrones, Breaking Bad.
F4: Why “Game of Thrones” is your favorite?
favorit
Myself: It gives suspension and twists in every episode so that I always wait eagerly for the next
one.
F4: Can you correlate “Game of Thrones” with Business?
Myself: Actually Mam, I didn’t think it that way.
F4: Okay. Then, when you watch Game of thrones
thrones once again, try to correlate it with business. If
we meet once again, you will explain it to me.
Myself: Okay, mam. I’ll do so.
F3: Is Breaking Bad a drama series?
Myself: Yes, Sir. At several Emmy Awards, Breaking Bad was submitted as Drama. (I indirec
indirectly
informed them that I also follow Emmy Awards each year)
F3: (He smiled)
F2: Who is the commerce minister now?
Myself: Sorry, Sir. I can’t recall now.
F2: Industry Minister?
Myself: Sorry sir once again.
F2: Any Minister?
Myself: Md Shariar Alam (foreign
n minister)
F2: (He smiled as Md. Shahriar Alam is an Ex-IBAtie,
Ex IBAtie, but he is not minister though). So, you have
graduated from IBA, Jahangirnagar University. What was your major?
Myself: Marketing
F2: What is ambush marketing?
Myself: Sorry, Sir. I can’t recall
all right now.
F2: What is ATL and BTL?
Myself: (I answered them with examples, they were satisfied)
F4: So, tell me something about the economy of Bangladesh? (Hearing the question deep down in
my heart I once again said, “Game on” ;). Because I was expecting
cting this question and I prepared
the answer beforehand)
Myself: According to the economic report 2016, the GDP growth rate is 7.05%, per capita income is
1466 USD. The exports are increasing year by year. So the economic condition is quite good.
F4: (She smiled at me & I smiled her back)
F2: Okay, you may go now. Result is tomorrow. Please check the website.
Myself: (Smiling at each of them, I greeted them with Salam & left the room)
(N.B. I was at viva board for around 10-15
10 minutes. But really the ambiance
nce was so friendly that I
wanted to stay for more time)
2. Khaled Syfullah (Finally Selected)

1. u r an engineer, so what brings u here?

----Common question was prepared Explained pretty well...
2. Despite of bad Political condition, why economic condition is well enough?
---- I replied i'm not sure about it but i can share my thoughts. Sir allowed i just pointed out few
points. Just some basics. He didn’t seem that much happy... frown emoticon
3. What's the GDP growth of last year?
---- again i wasn't sure about it... i said i read it somewhere & i think its 6 point something, he
smiled & said it was close.
4. What's 2G, 3G etc?
--- as i am from this field, explained in detail.... they didn't ask anything... so i'm not sure id it
was okay or not.
5. What do we understand by Bandwidth? Why its important? --- Again, explained as best as
possible in the short time. Then "Okay young man, that’s all. Good luck. Result will be published
on 20th" I expected more, they didn't ask that many questions.. Maybe won't work this time.... :((
****@ all those who were asking: I replied in this way-- -- where i am currently working, how
much I want to move up in my org, my managerial & leadership skills, How IBA will help to
polish them further & prepare me as one of the best.... -- Co-relation between Technology &
Business.. How both knowledge & experience are needed in today's market... -- I want to start
something of my own one day... it may be a farm like technical solution provider or similar... as i
have already got the Technical knowledge & working practically... so, main challenge for me is the
solid business knowledge & that where MBA will play its role. -- and why IBA? if i am going to
pursue my MBA why not from the best one?? grin emoticon also well known reputation &
Standard of IBA in different Fields.... That's all.....
3. Imroze Parvez
Hi ! I am new in this group. It's really nice to see people sharing their thoughts here. The admins
are really helpful & always trying to provide the best possible answers/solution to the queries. I'd
like share a few things here. I attended the admission test of last two intakes of IBA MBA (48th &
49th) and I passed the written both of the time. But I could not sell myself in the viva. Hahaha. I
think its really funny. Seems like my luck is deriding myself !! Both of the time, I was stuck on
the same two questions & I was screwed ! 1. Why did it take 6 years to complete your grad? 2.
Why is your CGPA so poor? (2.88)
[ I am totally puzzled, 1st time I told them frankly that I had to do jobs/tuition to bear all my
expenses (You know the living cost of Dhaka city) including my semester fees of a private uni
(Eastern University). So I had to take minimum courses to minimize per semester cost & because
of job my class+quiz participation was hampered & so was my CGPA. I could predict I won't be on
the final list (Good thing is the interviewers of IBA viva board usually let you know their opinion
frankly). I had no plan for appearing this time. Just decided to give a luck try on 17th Dec, filled
out the from & sat for the written test again 28th December. The written test was horrible ! But
as my luck had decided to play with me a little more, I was again selected for the VIVA ! This
time I wanted to cover my SAD(??!!) story by saying that " I tried a lot of things at the same time
like music & other activities. My concentration was divided among my Band, Students, Job &
Study. But later on I focus on study & got back to track. I learned from my experience. I don't
want to look back. I know where should I go and I am looking forward to do something better
with my career. They didn't seem to be convinced by my answers. They were in doubt about my
academic capabilities ! So they were asking questions like 1. How long you had been taking
preparation for IBA? 2. which coaching center did you went to?
I am doing job since the middle years of my graduation. I didn't have much time to go to a
coaching center. I finished my final exam on May,2012. I got only 1 month to prepare myself (
Just went through the previous years' questions). This time it was 10 days. They didn't believe it
either. Thought I might be some sort of nerd who spent all his life in libraries still got poor
grades ! Everything happens for a reason ! I believe in KARMA ! So nothing amazes me anymore! I
could not share with them(actually didn't want to)that I was from a poor family. My father retired
earlier than usual because of his ill-health. So I had to do tuition/Jobs since I was 17 ! Well, I
guess it's time to think otherwise. At least I met the director ( G.M. Chowdhury) on the
viva!Hahaha! Best wishes to those who got chance. Good Luck for your journey in upcoming days !

Essentials for VIVA... Smiling Face. Good Confidence (not over!!!) Don't argue Don't get nervous if
you can't answer. In IBA's viva ATTITUDE is more important than knowledge. you hv shown
enough knowledge in written part (know the exact meaning of ATTITUDE and dont fully neglect
the knowledge) Formal Attire is appreciated not mandatory Avoid parroting...Fluency is
important...dont worry about pronunciation... Best of Luck...

9. Nusrat Fatema
my viva experience -- Trust me, it won't help much , but as some of u are keen to know it..here
it goes Date- 15-6-2015; Time: 12.30 (approx) I entered into the room with their permission.
Greeted them, they responded very warmly , took my Student Info Form , looked at it, then
asked
-so tell me what did u achieve in your life?
= I got awarded by my university for maintaining a distinct CGPA till the end of my graduation.
- what is the distinction?
= replied.
then a mam asked me(with a lovely smile) ,
- Your face seems quite familiar to me, did you appear here before as well?
= Yes mam I was selected for the 53rd viva as well.
- That's why I felt I saw u somewhere before( I was amazed thinking an IBA faculty remembered
me for 6 months!! thus automatically a complacent smile on my face tongue emoticon ) anyways
tell me what went wrong last time? why couldn't you make it back then?
= mam I believe I was acting bit stubborn, my intention was to explain why i feel my answer is
right, i just tried to justify it,,but maybe to the board, it seemed as if i were trying to defend my
wrong answer. Maybe my attitude didn't seem positive and ready enough to the board.
- So do you think u overcame the flaw? did u work on it?
= yes mam a lot . another teacher then said
- but u still look quite passive.
= (just a blushing smile)
- do u agree?
= if u r saying so sir, maybe I am looking passive,,though I am actually being cautious to avoid the
unwanted incident occurred last time.
-no you r talking well but ur non verbal approach looks a bit shaky. u did a course on
communication while ur graduation right?
= yes sir.
- so tell me what what is the ratio of verbal and non verbal expression in a communication, i m
sure u read it .
= yes sir i read it but can't recall the actual ratio, but I think it is 50-50.
- (with an astonished face) 50% verbal?
= yes sir because when i speak i also simultaneously deliver non verbal expressions such as
smiling while sharing something nice, frowning while sharing anger etc. another one then asked
-so nusrat, u r from iub, do u think iub is number 1 private university of bangladesh?
=yes sir definitely.
- okay what will be nsu's rank according to u?
= 3 or 4 maybe (no offense NSUers)
- what is the 2nd one then?
= brac.
- do u prefer putting eastern university in rank 3?by the way did u hear the name of it?
= yes sir i heard about it.
- what did u hear?
= I heard it doesn't have its own campus, even it is set up at one floor of an apartment ( I
apologize to the students of eastern uni) hearing this reply all the 6-7 teachers laughed for around
1-2 minutes telling did u understand what did u just say?
= (embarrassing smile) maybe something funny sir but I actually meant it doesn't have acceptance
to much of the people because it is still unable to meet required criteria of a well renounced
university.
- so u don't think it can be placed on #3?
= no sir it can be, campus does't completely define the quality. if the uni has qualified faculty
members, if it can provide students with quality education then it can be placed on the 3rd place.
I actually dnt know much of it so can't claim anything that strongly. mam again asked
-u did ur internship at grameenphone?
= yes mam.
-in which department?
= finance.
- tell me some divisions of the department
= (told)
- what were ur responsibilities?
= (told)
-they r non payee right?
=yes mam.
- do they ever employ their interns?
= there's no such permanent rule about it, but they sometimes offer job to some interns who they
believe are suitable for a post.
- ur major was finance right?
= yes then another sir asked following questions time value
- couldn't answer properly, he said u r saying whatever is coming into ur mind,,but it's okay u r
not doing bad. cost of capital -
answered.
interest rate-
answered
difference between bills and bonds-
answered .
types of secured stock
- answered.
LIBOR - couldn't catch it thus skipped it ,( my finance teachers won't hesitate to kill me once they
come to know about it ) 2-3 more fin related questions, i believe i answered them correctly they
looked satisfied. another teacher asked,
-do u know which area of our country is flooded at this moment?
= yes sir, north zone.
- do u think it is the proper time of flood?
= no sir, flood usually occurs during august - october duration ( completely wrong ans. yet they
nodded as if i were right unsure emoticon )
- do u think u know about bangladesh?
= yes sir i do.
- what area about bangladesh u think u know the most?
= liberation war.
- that's nice. tell me during the war in how many sectors were the freedom fighters divided?
= sorry sir i can't recall it at this moment.

FOR THOSE WHO GOT SELECTED FOR INTERVIEW IN IBA MBA ADMISSION TEST: I’m sure you all
are very much excited and also a bit nervous about this interview. You should be. Being a bit
nervous actually proves that you’re a human! So don’t worry about that. Now you need to know
that you have to get a cut-mark in the interview too, just like all the other sections (It’s the
beauty of this admission test, isn’t it?) to get the chance of studying at the best business school of
our country! Now, from my own interview experience, let me clarify some points. There’s a huge
misconception among some participants about the interview test of IBA. Many people think that
faculties behave very rudely in the interview. It’s a complete bullshit. IBA faculties are very
friendly and open armed in the interview, trust me. In fact, they help you to feel comfortable
mentally. They actually want you to get good marks in the interview. I was also a bit nervous
about how they would behave with me. 30 seconds after entering the room, all my nervousness
was gone and I felt that I was having a chit-chat with my family members! It was because of their
friendly attitude and it happened to all my classmates as well. So forget any sort of tension
regarding this issue. Do practice answering some common questions at your home like introduce
yourself, why do you want to do an MBA, why are you choosing IBA, why do you want to shift
from engineering/science background to business (if you’re from science/engineering background),
where do you want to see yourself after 5/10 years, what are your interests etc. The question
related to your interest is particularly important because from here, you can actually fix the
direction of the interview. When they came to know that I was interested in music, they asked me
whether I was involved with it or not. I knew that this was my chance to dictate the direction of
the whole interview. I was very glad that they asked me this question because music has always
been my center of interest. When I said that I had a band, they asked me what types of music we
did. I replied that we basically covered heavy metal and alternative rock. Their next question was,
“what’s the difference between metal and rock music?” I was able to answer it properly because I
had correct knowledge on this matter. They even asked me to sing a song which I did without
any hesitation because I knew that this was my best chance to sell myself to them. So be
prepared for anything actually and try to use your interest as your advantage point as they
frequently ask this question. Accept the fact that you don’t know everything about this world.
There is a high chance that you might not be able to answer some of their questions. Take it
easily. They understand this very well. They even don’t expect you to answer all the questions.
They mainly try to know how you respond to a particular situation, that’s it. So if you don’t know
something, just tell them politely that you don’t know this or you can’t remember it at that
moment. Answer with a persuasive smile. It works. Remember failing to answer a question will
have no impact on your marks but failing to respond properly might do some harm to you. So be
very careful about it. Maintain a good eye contact with all the faculties. If one teacher asks a
question, don’t just answer looking at that teacher but distribute your eye contact equally to all
the teachers. This shows your confidence and proves that each of the teachers has equal
importance to you. Also try to keep a smiling face most of the time. Show positivity in your
answers. Don’t express any sort of frustration about yourself and your country. Present yourself as
an optimistic person. They will be impressed by this mentality, trust me! Try to prove that you’re
extremely passionate about IBA as it is the best business school of our country. Tell them how
hard you’ve worked to get into here and how much studying here will mean to you. Gather some
knowledge about IBA from the website. Finally I’d say, just be enthusiastic and positive about
yourself. As you have been able to come this far, it’s only logical to conclude that you also possess
the capability to overcome this hurdle too. It’s plain and simple. You can! You definitely can! Best
of Luck. Looking forward to seeing you ramble through IBA soon!

15. Sakeef Mahboob Bin Ahsan
Many people have been requesting the selected candidates of MBA 53rd batch to share their viva
experience. I have been selected for the part time program of MBA. I think I should give it a shot
at explaining my viva experience. My board consisted of 4 teachers. 2 male and 2 female. I
entered by giving greetings and asked if I may come in. They said yes and asked me to sit down
once I entered. I said thank you and sat down. Then I was asked to give my information form to
the sir which I did next. Then the senior teacher asked me which organization do I work for. I
told him. Then he asked me what does my organization do. I answered that we aim to eliminate
educational inequity in Bangladesh. Then he asked me what do I mean by inequity. I answered.
And then he asked what do I mean by education. I answered. Then he asked if I knew anyone
from IBA. I answered that there are two people from IBA working in my organization. I mentioned
their names and their position in my organization. Then the sir asked who were funding my
organization. I told the names but I what I did as a mistake was I defined the abbreviation of one
of my organization's fund providers wrong. The sir corrected me. Then he asked me about the
training that I receive as well as my work execution protocol. Then he said I can go now. I said
thank you and walked out of the room. A few pointers from my experience at Viva.
1. Be calm.
2. Smile at the members of the board.
3. It is okay to be nervous but do not be crushed down by it.
4. Be humble and say no to something you do not know the answer to.
5. Apologize nicely when the board points out a mistake.
6. Make eye contact as much as possible at all times.
7. Try to look at others while answering the questions.
8. Try not to raise hands too much in front of the board.
Realization: Viva is a weird experience. For some it can be devastating and for others it can be
quite pleasant. You would never actually know what is coming at you. For those working in an
organization and applying for Part time MBA next December, my suggestion is get to know your
organization well enough before the viva. Any one selected for part time MBA (53rd batch) here?
16. Ahshanuzzaman Tambir
Job is not yet done guys...u ve just crossed a barrier but destination is not achieved...a few tips for
viva...follow if u like...
1. Always talk in English....if you don't find anyone to talk then talk to yourself.
2. Watch videos from YouTube.
3. Prepare a list of questions you might face in viva....put everything on the list...how silly doesn't
matter...put on the list n prepare the best answer for those questions.
4. Preparing well for these questions is not the end of the preparation....it's just the
beginning....you ve to find the best possible way of delivering those answers. ..everyone knows at
this point of time what's gonna come in viva...yet only few overcome. ..n that's ur failure if u
can't overcome...
5. Practice ur answers with the best possible way of delivering n that's where watching YouTube
videos will come handy. Best wishes..
17. Mushfiq Alam Arko
Wear a full sleeve shirt with matching tie and shoe. Make it simple; dont overdo it. Make sure
your haircut or beards are well taken care of smile emoticon As for the questions‚ there are some
common ones like why mba ... Why do you want to shift from science background to business and
the likes. Dont worry about the questions and their appropriate answers. What matters is the
delivery. Make sure you speak clearly and correctly. And just make sure you dont get nervous.
The answers should come to you naturally and if there is something that you dont know‚ just
politely say sorry. what d best ans of why MBA ??? There is no best answer. It would differ from
person to person. You just make sure that your answer revolves around the fact that IBA MBA
would add unparalleled value to your education and career. Olpo telailei sir ra khushi hoea jai
smile emoticon You can even say that you want to do business and need mba to learn the ins and
outs of it. But in that case you would be asked additional questions trying to validate your claim.
Try to make a standard business plan as well ... As in what business you would like to go into and
all the details about it Make your conversations longer if you think you are good in english.
Instead of thinking it as an interview‚ consider it a conversation/discussion session. The better
you are in spoken english‚ the more impressed the interviewers will be smile emoticon Best of
luck
18. Shahadat Hossain Dipto
August 6, 2014 Those who have passed the written test of IBA-MBA: You have worked hard for a
long time. Now only a few steps to catch your dream. Don't get nervous. Take a deep breath
before entering the room. Be confident, but humble. Be careful about your gesture, posture and
other behavioral staffs. Most importantly don't panic. Best of Luck for all the interviewees today !
19. Zubaeerul Islam
Duration: around 15 minutes
Board: 02
Background: BBA in Accounting and Info System from IIUC.
(I was the last person of that board. There were 5 faculties and all of them were surprisingly
cordial)
Followed the usual norms to enter the room and exchange greetings. The board chairman
permitted me to seat. Handed over the student form.
They didn’t ask me the traditional “Introduce yourself” type question. My graduation was from
International Islamic university Chittagong. First 7/8 minutes was only regarding my university.
Chairman: So you are from IIUC. From which campus?
Myself: Sir we have only one campus, the permanent campus in Kumira, Chittagong.
Chairman: Is IIUC UGC approved
Answered. Was asked about Dhaka Campus. Informed accordingly.
Another Faculty: Why IIUC? Why not IUB Ctg campus.
Answered accordingly.
Faculty: What is the main reason for which one should choose IIUC.
Answered.
Chairman: You had good grades in SSC and HSC (gpa 5 in both). Then why a private university?
Informed them that I was initially admitted into SUST but had to transfer my credit after
completing half of graduations from there due to physical issues. The whole board showed
sympathy and asked how I overcame the situation.
After that they started asking from my major (Accounting and Information system)
Faculty: What is Qualified Audit?
The term is Qualified Opinion. As I was confused, skipped the question.
Faculty: (_ Asked another question from Auditing which I can’t recall)
Couldn’t’ also answer this one! (I was damn nervous that time as I failed to answer two questions
back to back)
I told the board politely that Accounting theory is not my thing.
Chairman: But you have got a good CGPA.
Faculty: Have you deleted everything from your mind after your graduation!! (He was mocking me
:s)
I gently replied: Sir my family invested a lot of money on my education and that’s why I tried my
best to maintain my cgpa and studied technically. Accounting related math is my thing but I can
hardly recall any advanced theoretical concept. I was more fascinated by Marketing courses. (I
told them this to divert them from my weak zone. It worked!)
Faculty: Can you relate Marketing and Accounting?
Myself: Sir I think, my knowledge of Accounting will aid me better if I apply them in Marketing.
For example, cost accounting was my favorite subject in accounting (another try to set a suitable
premise for next question). If I know and understand the per unit cost analysis of a product, then
it will surely help me to set my proper Marketing strategy.
Chairman: Can you tell us the names of Financial statements?
(I knew it was the last chance of my survival so jumped for it.)
(Btw, this question was also asked to me on my mock viva session in Capstone)
Myself: According to IAS-1 there are 5 statements. (Mentioned the names as per IAS)
Faculty: What is the use of Notes and disclosures
Explained properly
Faculty: Give us an example of Off Balance sheet item which are disclosed in the inner column of
Balance Sheet.
Couldn’t recall an example. Begged their pardon.
Chairman: I think you are answering all the questions keeping yourself in safe zone! You are
skipping in whichever you have even a minimum confusion. But you need to answer this question!
Myself: I answered in my own language.
Faculty: Your answer is 90% accurate.
Chairman: You have the concept but you didn’t study well from the books that’s why not
confident about your knowledge. You explained well. Check your result on 10th. Best of Luck.
I thanked them and flied out of the room.
While I was closing the door before leaving the room, I noticed that one faculty was staring at
me. It felt to me like that he was observing my gestures. In the whole viva session, he was
completely silent.
20. Maruf Ahmed

Alhamdulillah I have also selected in this 56th intake. As a football lover, I can not resist myself
sharing my Viva experience in brief. Sir 1: In which department you have had your graduation? I :
Finance,sir. Sir 1: (indicating another faculty) do u knw him ? He I from finance also. I : Sorry,sir.
Sir 2: So, you were the manager of finance football team. What were your duties actually as a
manager? I : Actually I had to co-ordinate with all the seniors & juniors and the game teacher. I
organised training sessions and made combination which could work best. And i had to motivate
players to get their best potential and achieve the goal of the team. Sir 2 : Sir told something
about some other duties of a manager of Manchester United. I told him that I am amateur and he
is professional then we had an conversation about similarities between football and business.i told
a lots about this and they also added some points and I agreed with them and told more about
their points. Then the most exciting part had come: Sir 1: Who is the current best football? I : It's
very difficult to decide this decisive decision.in some aspects, Cr7 is the best & in some aspects
messi is the best.. Sir :2: If you had to decide, then whom you pick ? I : Though I am a support of
ream Madrid and have affection to cr7, from my evaluation on them, messi is the best. Sir 1: Do
you believe hard work can match Good gifted talent? I : It is very difficult for anyone to reach
Good gifted talent by hard work. But, sometimes, to some extent, it can possible. Messi is far
better Good gifted Than cr7.but cr7 has surpassed messi in some areas. But in some other areas,
he couldn't make. Then I was asked to why I started support Madrid.i told them lots about Madrid
and specially about Zidane.then we talked a lot about Zidane. He asked me whether I am a fan of
Zidane or He is a fan of me ? Finally they thanked me. And a another faculty( female) asked me
form which part of the country I have come from. I told her, Jhenidah, maa'm. She told me that
students from Jgenidah don't study in IBA. I said' I am hopeful,ma'am." Another faculty said : "
don't worry you man, she is kidding" Then ma'am told me to check result tomorrow. I thanked
them. It was a great enjoy of me to have an viva such as that.and my politeness and smile face
had positive impression on them.
21. ( Reluctant to reveal name , Got chance )

Faced VIVA today . Is was 7/8 minutes long . The board had 3 male and 2 female teachers .
Applicant : May I come in Sir ? Teacher 1 : Yes , come in . Applicant : Assalamialaikum . Good
Morning . Teacher 1 : Sit down . Applicant : Thank u sir . Teacher 3 : Your results and all others
scores are good . Why did u study in a Private University ? Did not get chance in Public

want to have an MBA ? Applicant : Sir , I have few reasons . Firstly , some companies prefer
engineering with MBA and they give some added advantages to them . Teacher 2 : Which

sector and I want to create a positive image of this country in front of the world. I believe this is
possible only if the real educated people start business in this sector with real Bangladeshism in
their heart .

My Viva experience of IBA-MBA
MBA 59th intake:
After taking permission, I entered the room and exchanged greetings. I was offered to take my
seat. There were 4 faculty members on my board including
including honorable Director Sir of IBA. At first,
I was asked to pass my student info form to the director sir. Then it went somewhat like this :
DS: Tell me the sweetest memory of your life.
me: (answered)
FM3: Why did you leave your job?
me: (answered)
FM3:: Why are you not joining any other job?
me: (answered)
DS: Why have you chosen IBA-MBA?
MBA? Why not AUST-MBA?
AUST
me: Sir because IBA is the best business school currently in Bangladesh.
DS: So, are you trying to flatter me? (with smile)
me: No sir, after leaving my job when I made up mind to have an MBA degree, I consulted with
my teachers, parents. and senior brothers what would be the best choice for me. They have all
suggested me to go for IBA. Also, IBA has the best business faculty and a strong alumni base iin
Bangladesh.
DS: How many faculty members of IBA do you know? Can you mention some name?
me: Yes Sir. I have gone through IBA website and checked the "Faculty" section. Right now I can
mention Professor Dr. Ziaul Haq Mamun Sir. He has come from an engineering
engineering (civil engineering)
background as I have. So, he is really an inspiration for me. (I studied about Dr. Mamun sir the
previous night :D)
FM2: It's not a big deal. Most of the MBA candidates in IBA are from an engineering background.
FM3: Do you know the
he meaning of alumni?
me: (answered)
FM3: So, is professor Dr. Mamun sir alumni?
me: (panicked) Sorry sir, I am not sure.
FM3: (He giggled) Oh, you are not sure.
FM2: You mentioned Dr. Mamun sir is your inspiration. Are you going to have your career on the
academic line?
me: (like a stupid) no ma'am. (I was totally at a loss at this time)
FM2: (with a sardonic smile) Isn't it funny? How could he (Dr. Mamun sir) become your
inspiration then?
me: No ma'am I tried to say that even if you are from engineering background
background you can do
extremely well in business education as well.
FM2: (Shaking her head, not convinced)
(I was like, this is the end. There is no hope for me this time)
DS: Ok, that's it.
FM3: You may go now. Check your result on 11th.
me: Thank you, Sir,, for having me. Assalamu alaikum.
The viva took not more than 5 minutes. It went well at the beginning but somehow ended in
rather turmoil I would say :P.
But, Alhamdulillah I saw my ID in the final results.
I think you have got enough tips and suggestions
suggestions from this group regarding viva. I don't want to
repeat the same because I think those are perfectly adequate. In my opinion, confidence is the
key. And confidence comes to a great extent from being able to speak English fluently. So practice
practice practice
actice and learn to speak English fluently besides taking preparation for the written
exam. It will not only help you to crack that viva but also be a valuable asset for your whole life.
Also, the mock viva sessions by Capstone education were a great help to me as I had the chance
to rectify my wrong approaches and gesture mistakes.
Lastly, I want to congratulate all my fellow IBAites of 59th intake. Also my good wishes to all the
IBA-MBA
MBA aspirants for the coming intakes. :)
Pardon me for any mistakes. Keep
p me in your prayers.

Background: NSU BBA(Finance&Accounting)
As, I was not satisfied with my McQ+written...So I took the hardest possible preparation for the
worst ever viva experience...No more wait...Let's go straight into the viva room..
Me: May I please come in sir..
Sir 1: Yes.
Me: Assalamu Alaikum Sir..
Sir 1: Walaikum salam. give the form and have ur seat..
Sir 1: So, you are from North South University..There is a connection in North South university
and terrorism like in gulshan tragedy and sholakia.( The ques was not asked to stereotype NSU
rather I believe they wanted to see how I defend and uphold my ex institution)
Me:(I was totally discomfited by this ques) Sir, It was a mess up in last year. Now, there is nothing
like that. NSU is the best private university of Bangladesh. If it would produce terrorist, it could
not be the No.1 private university. And I believe no institution encourage its' students to be
terrorist.
Sir 1: Are u a terrorist?
Me: No sir. I know islam well. And I believe those who know islam well cannot be a terrorist.
Sir 2: What is off balance sheet item?
Me: replied in elaboration with examples.
Sir 1: What are the five financial statements?
Me: Replied.
Sir 2: If NPV of a project is zero, should we consider the project for implementation?
Me: Replied with explanation.
Sir 3: Is there any situation when u can consider a project even if NPV is zero?
Me: Sorry sir, I can't recall it right now.
Sir 3: It's alright. So, you have graduated december last year and you are not in a job. what have
u done in this long time.
Me: I have prepared myself for IBA exam and different recruitment tests.
Sir 3: Have u appeared for any interview?
Me: Yes sir, I have given the final interview for MT of Eastern Bank, LankaBangla Finance and
IPDC finance and I was qualified for the Group discussion of Marico and BAT Management Trainee
program.
Sir 3: You have qualified so many written, hopefully u will get your job very quickly.
Me: InshaAllah sir.
Sir 1:What else have u done?
Me: I have also prepared myself for BCS( this was a blooper!!! I suppose to tell Bangladesh bank. I
am totally blind about bcs!!)
Sir 3: What is your first choice??
Me: Admin
Sir 3:What are the ranks?
Me: Sorry sir, I don't know.
Sir 3: What is the starting rank of an admin?
Me: Sorry sir, I can't recall it right now.
(sir 2 helped me out saying that he has prepared for preliminary not for viva)
Sir 1: ok, you can go. check ur result on 11th..
Me: Thank you sir.
A mam was there. She didn't ask anything. Alhamdulillah, on 11th, I found my Roll NO on the
result sheet.
TIPS FOR VIVA:
1. Be well dressed. That may boost up your confidence.
2. Be confident. Whatever u utter, utter with confidence.
3. Don't be over smart. Don't try be over smart. The smartest people are in front of you. If u
don't know the answer of any ques, say a straight sorry without twisting. U can say " sorry sir, I
can't recall it right now".
4. Be smart. If u don't know the answer of any question, don't make ur face like u have never
heard it rather act like that u know but can't recall.
5. Be in a smiling face. A smiling face gives positive impression.
6. Have a good gesture. Don't loose ur temper even if they attack u. Be calm.
7. Be Fluent. Don't utter unnecessary eh ah uh sound in the middle of any sentence and be fluent
as well.
8. Take your best preparation. Know your area of studies very well and practice conversation in
english with friends and in front of mirror. Think from the perspective of an interviewer and
prepare the questions you would ask if you become an interviewer.
8. Have fun with your friends before entering the IBA building. That will help to take aside your
nervousness.(it worked for me).
9. Finally, think the viva as a chit chat not an exam..
Good Luck everyone...

VIVA BOARD 2: (3-4 pm)
-May I come in sir?
>yes come in.
-May I have the seat sir?
>Oh sure,, sure
-Ok gentleman, Introduce yourself.
>I am Sohel Rana... blah blah.......
-Oh r u sure, you are not masud rana?
>Yes sir, actually that part was starting of my formal introduction sir.
-You have quite good academic result, why do you think you need to do MBA. what is your career
plan?
> Actually sir, as I am an engineer and I want to be a professionally efficient engineer and for
that I think B Sc engineering is quite Ok. Moreover B Sc is regarded as terminal degree for
engineering if I don't want to go R&D or academic sectors. Google CEO sundar pichai is my
inspiration and motivation. He is an engineer, graduated from IIT and also a scholar of wharton
business school. I also want to be a corporate hero. I think that's why I need MBA and IBA is the
best option for me.
-Within how many years do you want to complete your MBA?
>As early as possible, I mean 2 years and after that I want to be available at job market.
-(Another faculty) You are currently serving at ********* and you want to enroll full time. how
will you manage it?
> I will be out of job and continue MBA.
-(Head of the board)Oooo that means you will quit job and start MBA, and than You will get a
better job and quit MBA again(I thought I was rejected and actually that was the strongest bullet I
needed to defend )
> I was very comfortable and confidently disagreed to him and uttered my previous career plan
again.
-Ok gentleman see the result after two days and thank you.
>Thanks to all of you.

IBA MBA 59th Batch Part-time
time Viva Experience
Interview timing: 8:00PM-9:00PM
Board: 2(IBA Director’s Board)
Reaching IBA by 7PM, I felt a little relaxed because I was stuck in traffic for two hours! I saw the
directions
ctions that said that the interviewees needed to go a designated room to get their certificate
checked. I reached the room to find out about 20-25
20 25 candidates. Since I reached early, I was sure
that most of these candidates were from the 7PM-8PM
7PM slot. Got myy certificates checked and
submitted the photocopies. Sat there for a good 50 minutes to an hour and it felt like eternity.
Suddenly at 8:10PM my roll was called and my heart sunk! I hoped I would do good since I saw
many of the students returning from their
the vivas with a smile on their face.
The bell rung, the door was opened by an employee of IBA, I went to the door and with a very
prepared tone said out loud “May I come in sir?”. However, the board was sitting in a side wise
position and my words fell into
o deaf ears. I got a little nervous since all my preparation had gone
to waste :P . Then they looked at me and I asked again, “May I come in sir?”. This time they
nodded and told me to get into the room.
I came in front of the table and gave my salam and also wished them a good evening. I stood in
front of their table for about 3-44 seconds before director sir told me to have a seat and then I sat
down and thanked him.
Director Sir: So, your name is Shabab Azfar Ahmed?
Me: Yes sir.
DS: You have done your Bachelors in Engineering. Hmmm. Which sector of Engineering?
Me: Sir, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
DS: And you are from BRAC University. CGPA is …. :P (Let’s keep it a secret).
Me: Yes sir.
DS: You could study MBA at BRACU also. Why do you want
wan to study at IBA?
Me: Sir, I have a soft spot for IBA from childhood. My uncle was a student at IBA
IBA-MBA 24th batch
and also a topper in his batch. Everyone loved him for his brilliance and more so for his
humbleness. I have always idolized him for what he had achieved.
Here, another professor (most probably) came into the discussion.
Professor: Are you talking about …….. ? (Don’t want to reveal the name)
Me: Yes sir.
Professor: Hmm okay. He is your uncle?
Me: Yes sir. My maternal uncle.
DS: Okay Shabab. But, do you want to study at IBA only for this reason?
Me: No sir. There are other reasons as well. For example, economical reasons. If I study at BRACU
it would cost me a lot more than at IBA.
DS: You are an engineering student. Why do you want to study MBA?
Me: Sir, I am shortly going to be joining a bank as an MTO and I do not have any managerial
skills. I want to have business knowledge apart from the technical knowledge I already have.
Professor: Which bank?
Me: ……… Bank. (Cannot reveal officially as I haven’t started yet)
Professor: Ok.
Then, another younger sir on the right started to ask me questions. These were tricky ones which
are meant to baffle candidates. I tried to stay put to my words.
Younger Sir: Okay Shabab. You said you are going to join
join a bank. Which branch are you going to
work at?
Me: Sir, I haven’t joined yet so I really don’t know where I am going to be posted.
YS: Then, what happens if you are posted outside of Dhaka?
Me: Sir, I am going to make sure that I do not get posted outside
outsid Dhaka.
YS: How are you going to make sure?
Me: Sir, I am going to request HR to consider my case as a student of IBA.
YS: But, if they don’t listen and put you somewhere outside Dhaka? What will you do then?
Me: Sir, then I am going to do it.
YS: How are you going to do MBA?
Me: No sir, I meant I will do my job and apply for IBA later when I am posted in Dhaka.
YS: You are going to leave IBA for your job?
Me: Yes sir. I need a job at the moment.
Then, another younger sir to sat to the rightmost part of the
the table started to ask me questions.
Another younger sir: You are an electrical engineer right?
Me: Yes sir.
AYS: Then, I am going to ask you questions from your field.
Me: Sure sir. (I was nervous because I haven’t studied in a long time) :P
AYS: Tell me, which electrical system is used in our homes?
Me: Sir, I did not hear you properly.
AYS: Which electrical system? AC or DC?
Me: Sir, AC.
AYS: Why so?
Me: Sir because it is more portable at larger distances.
AYS: Tell me which one is more expensive?
Me: Sir, DC is more expensive.
AYS: But we still use DC lights and other equipments. Why do we do that then?
Me: Sir, if we need a small electrical source then DC would be enough. But for greater source of
energy, DC would definitely be more expensive.
AYS: Okay.
Finally, director sir asks everyone else if they have any further queries. They say that they don’t
and then Director sir tells me,
DS: Okay then. Thank you for coming.
Me: Thank you sir.
Professor: The result will be published on the 11th. Check the website.
Me: Okay sir. Thank you.
Then I come out of the room, still a little worried, but at least it was over and I could breathe a
sigh of relief.

My Viva Experience (IBA - MBA 59th Intake)
- May I come in?
- Yes, please have a seat!
- Thank you, Assalamualaikum!
- Waalaikumassalam! (Looking at my form) When did you take this photo?
- (I was hesitating because this photo was taken 5 years ago during my undergraduate admission
days)
- You look like a punk! (showing the form to other teachers) You don't look like a BUET student
here! (They were commenting something regarding my hairstyle)
- It's been a while Sir! It was taken a year ago (Had to lie)
- So you're from Naval Architecture Department, BUET. Why there are so many Naval Architects
coming to IBA these days?
- (Answered)
- How many universities currently offers this (Naval Architecture) degree in Bangladesh?
- (Answered)
- So what do these graduates do after they complete their undergraduate apart from pursuing an
MBA degree?
- (Answered)
- What are the companies that offer jobs to Naval Architects?
- (Answered)
- What is the difference between Naval Architecture and Naval Engineering?
- (Answered)
- Are there any other candidates from your department who's been selected for the interview?
- Yes, a friend of mine has been selected as well.
- So, if we have to choose only one of you for the MBA program, who would you suggest?
- (Probably the toughest question) Sorry Sir, I cannot tell this. It's up to you.
- So are you telling us not to select both of you?
- No Sir, I actually want you to select both of us.
- Suppose we can only select one, then what would you like us to do?
- (After a bit of hesitation) I don't want to sound selfish Sir.
- (Everyone was laughing, so was I)
- What's the capacity (weight) of the biggest ship in the world?
- (Answered)
- How many passengers can it carry?
- Sorry Sir, it's actually a cargo vessel, not a passenger vessel.
- Oh Cargo! Then tell me the capacity of the biggest passenger vessel?
- (Answered)
- What kind of ships are being built in Bangladesh?
- Medium Sized Vessel
- Why is that?
- Because there is a huge demand of this type of vessels in international markets as the European
countries, who used to built this kind of ships, have stopped building it and these countries have
shifted their focus to other industries.
- Other industries as in?
- Automobile industries and Technological industries etc.
- What are the prospects of shipbuilding in Bangladesh?
- (Answered)
- Your band's name is Liquid State Drive (I mentioned about it in the form) Why is that? What
does it mean?
- After we formed the band, we didn't have any name and after jamming for one month, we felt
that we should give a name for the band. We came up with different word combinations and this
sounded very impressive to us. It doesn't have any particular meaning, but when people ask about
it's meaning, we try to relate it to the rush of blood and the thrill we feel while we play our
instruments during our performances.
- (Another Sir looking at the form) Oh! You are a Guitarist! By the way, why did you write your
extracurricular activities in the "Work Experience" section of the form instead of the "Other
qualifications" section?
- There was not enough space in the "Other Qualifications" section to write all of the activities.
- (Sir seemed to disagree with me, but didn't elaborate on it) Okay, you may go now. Check your
result on 11th
- Thank you Sir. Assalamualikum!
TIPS for the interview:
1. Your appearance should be top notch. It is very important to dress well. I wore a dark blue
suit, dress pant, a white shirt, a black tie. Had to cut my hair down and to have a neat hairstyle. I
didn't keep my facial hair (went there clean shaved) but if you want to keep it, then please trim
it and make it tidy.
2. Behave politely. If you don't know the answer of any questions, tell them in a very decent
manner. Don't be aggressive and don't show arrogance.
3. Be confident but don't be overconfident.
4. If you have a lot of extracurricular activities, mention the ones in the form about which you
have a sound knowledge and can tackle a lot of related questions.
5. Have a good knowledge about the basics of your particular field and your previous educational
institutions. If you are an engineering student, you should have good idea regarding measurement
units, basic mathematics and the current situation of your particular field.
6. Remember don't degrade your previous institutions and field in any way. Be prepared to defend
any of the questions that may sound insulting about your background or your previous
institutions with a cool head. They will try to push you to the limits and see how you respond to
these kind of situations. If you end up being angry then you will surely lose the game.
7. IBA teachers are really smart and have great knowledge regarding any of the hobbies that you
know about. So be very prepared to answer any questions related to your hobbies.
8. The interview experience is like having a conversation. Don't let it have an awkward pause or
make it sound like an artificial conversation. It should be very very natural and spontaneous.
9. Lastly, the most important tip of them all, try to be very fluent in English speaking. Before
facing the interview, try to talk with someone in English for some time. The more you speak, the
more you will be comfortable facing any interview. And if you are very weak in English grammar,
you should start working on it from NOW!
I hope this post was helpful for the IBA aspirants.
Best wishes for you all.
Keep me in prayers.

June 1, 2016
As I have secured my position, I should share my experience with you.
My Viva experience at BIBM (June, 2016 intake)
Me: Assalamualaikum Sir. May I come in?
Sir: yes, please sit.
Sir: so you are Riaz from NSU.
Me: yes sir.
Sir: why MBM??
Me: Sir, if I wanted to become an engineer, BUET would my first choice, if I wanted to become a
doctor, DMC would be my first choice...since I want to become a banker, I would prefer BIBM. As
simple as it is. My goal is to become a banker, and BIBM is best in this business.
Sir: smiling. Then why EMBM?? We offer regular one for fresher like you.
Me: well, my father has already invested 7 lac tk on my education, he isn't doing anything now,
so it's hight time I took the responsibilities of my family. I don't have the luxury to spend
another 2 years only for education. I will have to work, that's a must.
Sir: so, you are sure that you will get a job very soon??
Me: sir, I am confident, rest will be depending on my luck fixed by Allah Subahanahu o ta-ala.
Sir: what's your major??
Me: Marketing.
Sir: tell us something about marketing
Me: Marketing is all about building profitable relationship with the conaumers ; furthermore it
helps to understand the need, want and demand of the consumers and to create products or
services accordingly.
Sir: can you define those terms ( Need, want, demand) ??
Me: ( defined all the terms with examples)
Sir: thank you. You may go.
Me: thank you sir.
The trick was, I didn't mention my another major-Finance.I knew BIBM teachers are best in
Finance and Banking, so it could be a nightmare for me if I mentioned my second major- Finance.
I played safely, and yes, putting "need, want and demand" in my answer was also intentional.
Bottom Line: Interviewers won't judge you based on how much you know about the world, they
will see whether you have clear understanding about what you say, whether you are confident
enough about who you are.

IBA MBA-59 Viva Experience: Due to my BCS viva on the 13th( that is today) I couldn’t share my
viva experience although I had been requested many times by my juniors and aspirants. I will
now try to share what happened during my interview. So without prolonging this worthless intro
I am diving straight into my interview:
The person before me came out sweating profusely so I thought that the interview board was very
strict. I braced myself for the worst outcome. Suddenly the bell rang and I went in. I gave the
board my initial greeting they told me to have a seat.
1) The person in the center a grandfatherly figure asked me the first question,” Son why do you
want to do MBA from IBA as you are from the department of Soil, Water and Environment?”
Ans: I gave a detailed answer giving focus on the following points:
1) Consumers are now looking for environmentally safe products. For this reason the businesses
would love to have someone from environmental science or relevant backgrounds.
2) Bangladesh Bank has issued “Green Banking Rules” in 2011 so banks would also love to hire
someone from such backgrounds.
3) There is a huge global demand to make our financial institutions more environment friendly.
2) Then the madam from the right side asked me whether I had tried for IBA in BBA and how did
I like my department?
Ans: I replied that I tried for BBA and couldn’t make it .I also replied that I liked my department
and the subject itself is very interesting.
3) The 3rd question was also asked by the madam and she asked,”why didn’t I apply for masters?”
Ans : I replied that as my result wasn’t good and I didn’t want to pursue higher studies so I
thought that MBA from IBA is the best option for me.
4) The 4th question was from the madam as well. She asked,” What kind of jobs was I looking
for”?
Ans: I replied that I was looking for management positions both in the public and private sector.
5) The sir from the right side then asked me a question regarding the startup I worked and why
did I call it a startup? Why did it fail as well?
Ans : Answered accordingly(Due to personal issues I am not willing to share this answer)
6) The grandfatherly figure from the center again asked,”As you have stated that you have written
articles in various news dailies so first name some news dailies and talk us through about what
you had written in those articles?”
Ans: I gave the name of some news dailies and told them that I had written about China’s “BRI”
initiative and about the water crisis prevailing in South-Asia.
7) The madam then asked me that how had I prepared for this examination?
Ans: I replied that I had reviewed my preparation that I took during BBA and attended the exam .
After this they told me to keep an eye on the IBA website on the 11th and wished me best of
luck.
The board was very friendly. In all honesty I didn’t prepare for interview at all my main focus
was on BCS viva but the thing that I did was that I gave mocks in Capstone both before the
written test and the interview. This time I had made it mandatory that I had to pass all the
sections and gave the the mocks with this mindset. I was helped by many of my friends and
juniors who are in IBA. So most of the credit goes to them. I hope this helps everyone especially
the candidates from relevant backgrounds. May Allah bless us all.

My Viva Experience (IBA - MBA 59th Intake, full time)
- May I come in, Sir?
- Yes, please have a seat!
- Thank you, Sir. Assalamualaikum!
- Waalaikumassalam! Please have your sit and pass the paper
paper to me. (indicating the data sheet)
Would you mind if I don't ask you describe yourself?
-No,
No, sir. Absolutely not. Actually its positive for me as I cant describe myself very well.
-Why?
Why? How much vivas did you face before this?
-Its the first viva for me, Sir. I have never attended any before this.
-(another
(another teacher) What's your school and college?
-I answered.
-(another
(another teacher) your suit seems quite handy. From where have you washed it?
-Actually
Actually its brand new Sir. I have bought it from Elephant Road last
last night. (he chuckled, same
did I)
-We
We see, you were never involved in any extra-curricular
extra curricular activities? Quite odd. Why so? Any
achievement?
-Actually
Actually sir, I'm not much achievement oriented I think and didn't find interest in extra
extra-
curricular activities either.
-So,
So, what do u do at your free time?
-II use to play cricket, football, fifa, watch movies, listen songs and most of all I like reading books.
-What types of book do u read?
-Nothing
Nothing confined Sir, whatever comes to my front, I read it.
-(another teacher,
r, smiling) Have you read any book of Satyajit or Sunil?
-I have read all of those, Sir.
-Then
Then tell me, in which book did u find the character of Vumisuta? What's the backdrop of the
book?
-I explained in short words.
-(another
(another teacher) You said that, you are not much achievement oriented. Then why do you want
to pursue an MBA?
-II explained. (sorts of memorized stuffs :P)
(The teachers smiled, maybe realised that I'm just bringing up memorised staffs :P)
-How
How this degree will help you in your sector?
-I explained
xplained (but, he didn't seem convincing)
-What
What do u know about IBA? Do you know some people doing good from an engineering
background after getting into IBA?
-sorry sir, I don't know.
-(he
(he asked some department related questions and I said 'I don't know' to most of them) Then
what did u learn in 4 years at BUET?
-(I
(I smiled) How to design a ship, Sir.
(he seemed convincing this time)
-So
So many BUET graduates are here attending viva. Why is that? Don't you guys have any job?
-I answered my bookish answer :P
-Did
Did you come along here, or with any friend?
-II have one friend. His viva is at the same time too. So, we have come using ubar from our hall.
-Then
Then we can select only one from you both. Whom to take?
-I prefer both, Sir.
-But the option is only one.
-Is there
here a 'none of us' option sir?
(he smiled loudly and didn't go further with the question)
-(another
(another sir) Where do you want to see yourself after 7 years?
-Umm,
Umm, Its hard to say, Sir. Maybe a TNO somewhere in the country, If not possible, then a post of
executive
cutive magistrate will also do it, Sir.
-(reclining
(reclining in his chair and giving a disgusted look at me) So, basically you want to take the
degree to minimize your risk only?
-Partially true, sir.
-What's the other part of it?
-Sir, personally I believe, knowledge
dge is never an waste and it will help me one day in one way or
another way.
-So,
So, you are not certain about what you are going to get with a MBA degree?
-Not fully certain Sir.
-(As
(As it took more than usual time for the viva, maybe the chairperson felt clumsy
clumsy and abruptly
drew an end to the viva) Ok, you can go now. You will get your result at 11th December.
-Thank
Thank you sir, assalamu alaikum.
Actually, its not any tips, just some casual words.
-First impression matters I think.
-not to be diffident and not to be over confident
-Be
Be yourself. Viva is nothing ordeal, its just some leisurous talks and dialogues. So, never end
anything abruptly.
-No
No man knows everything. You are not supposed to know everything. Its all about how you deals
with these unknown topics.
-never
never beat about the bush. If you don't know something, just admit it. giving wrong answers
mean you don't know two things, but saying no means you don't know only one. Also, irrelevant
talks irritate everyone.

Here's an account of my IBA MBA-59
MBA 59 VIVA experience. I must warn you. It isn't very
informative. :P
My VIVA was scheduled to be held at some time between 8 pm and 9 pm in Board 2. When I
arrived at the waiting room at 6.30, I saw that each and everyone else was suited up like a perfect
gentleman while I was only wearing an informal shirt, a pair of pants and shoes (at least my shirt
was tucked in). So, I was already contemplating whether I should give up and leave while I still
had some dignity left. Before I could run, however, I surprisingly got called up for the interview
at 7.15 pm. I waited outside the interview room for about 5 minutes. When the guy before me
came out, he looked left and right a few times, looked at me and ran towards the waiting room.
Anyway, I prayed to the Lord and went in.
There were 3 teachers there, one elderly and two young teachers.
Me: Good evening sir. May I come in?
The young sir in the middle: Yes, please. Come in. Have a seat.
(I took my seat and handed my candidate information form to the elderly teacher)
Elderly sir: (looking at the form) What date is it today, young man?
Me: Sir, it's 9th December today.
E.S: What time did you arrive at IBA premises?
Me: (looking at my watch) Urm.... sir, at about 6.30 pm.
E.S: (looking at me now) Ok. So! You are an engineer from BUET with a CGPA of (insert very low
CGPA here) !!! Why such a low CGPA?
Me: (Awkward smile) Well, sir. The thing is that one of my strengths is also one of my
weaknesses. I'm sort of a workaholic. When I get immersed into something, I forget ----
(Got interrupted)
E.S: Wait! Do you know (someone's name). (Turning over another candidates info form). He is also
from BUET.
Me: No, sir. I don't recall
ll anyone by that name.
Y.S.M: What?? He's from BUET EEE too. You don't know him??? (Looking at the other candidate
info) Oh, wait. He is your senior.
Me: Yes, sir. Maybe that's why I don't know him.
E.S: So, why do you want to pursue an MBA degree after graduating from an engineering
discipline?
Me: (told them about my dream of establishing a robotics industry in Bangladesh, starting with a
company of my own. Since I have the technical knowledge, I need the business knowledge
required.)
E.S: (Smiling) This
his is your reason?
Me: (Smiling back) Yes, sir.
Y.S.M: So, you want an MBA degree to become an entrepreneur?
Me: Yes, sir.
Y.S on the right side (Speaking for the first time): So, do you think all the successful CEOs have an
MBA degree???
Me: No, sir. But,
t, I think most of these people are special among everyone else. I'm not a genius
like them. So, I think I need to gain some more knowledge before moving forward.
Y.S.R: Fine. Can you name some successful CEOs without an MBA degree?
Me: Urm.... Mark Zuckerberg,
berg, sir. And.... Elon Musk also....
Y.SM: (A bit angrily) How about someone from Bangladesh??
Me: Urm... sir....
(A few seconds go by. I was contemplating whether I should mention Ayman Sadiq's name or
not :P)
E.S: How about Mr. Akij?
Me: (slightly confused)
fused) Mr. Akij, sir?
Y.S.M: Of Akij group.
Me: Sir, I don't think he has an MBA degree either.
(All three burst out laughing)
Y.S.M: (Still laughing) MBA degree?? He doesn't have any sort of formal education.
Me: (Smiling sheepishly) Sorry, sir. I didn't know. Maybe, he is an exception.
(The laughter went on for some time)
E.S: Hahaha! Ok! So, why IBA??
Me: (told them about all the good things that I have heard about IBA, that its curriculum is on
par with the best North American business schools.)
E.S: (getting distracted and pointing at the photo on my candidate info form) When did you take
this photo?
Me: Urm... about one month ago.
E.S: (Surprised) Really!! What are you wearing in this photo??
Me: (Smiling sheepishly again) A t-shirt,
t sir.
Y.S.M: A t-shirt!! Why??
Me: (Still smiling) Sir, I was in a hurry... So -----
Y.S.M: (interrupting me) So, you are not so serious about this admission process? Is that right?
Me: No, sir. I am. I left my passport-sized
passport sized photo at home. I was at my office at that time. One of
my colleagues -----
Y.S.M: (Interrupting me with wide eyes) Office??? You go to office wearing a t-shirt???
t shirt???
Me: (with a wry smile) Well, sir. The company that I work for is a startup. They don't have a
formal dress code. So I ------
Y.S.M: (interrupting
pting me) But IBA will not tolerate such hanky-panky!
hanky panky! If you do get into the
program, you have to be in formal attire all the time. Are you ready for that??
Me: (With as much firmness in my voice I could muster) Yes, sir. Of course.
(He was still looking att me with piercing eyes)
E.S (Smiling, a lot :P): So, you are a very casual boy, huh?
(I laughed and didn't say anything)
E.S: (still smiling): Anyway, what do you expect to learn from the MBA program?
Me: (told them about my thoughts. managing people, managing
managing resources, marketing etc etc)
E.S: (seeming satisfied) So, what do you know about the MBA program of IBA? What are the
majors?
Me: (I actually didn't know much) Urm... Marketing.... Finance.... Management, I think. And -----
E.S: (interrupting me) Ok,
k, How many courses do you need to take?
Me: Well, sir. Since I'm applying on a part-time
part time basis, I think I need to take 2 courses each
semester at least.
E.S: No, no. I meant, overall.
Me: I'm not sure, sir. Since I'm not from a business background, I don't
don' know.
Y.S.R (speaking for the second time): What??? You don't even know how many courses you need
to take and you're applying for it??
Me: (trying to smile as much as I can) Sorry, sir. I don't have a business background, so -----
E.S: (interrupting me) But you couldn't even take half on hour of your time to browse the IBA
website about this program???
Me: Sorry, sir. It was a mistake. If I'm accepted into the program, ------
E.S: (interrupting me and smiling) Then you will do your research?
Me: (smiling back) Yes, sir.
Y.S.R: No, I'm sorry but I don't think you are suitable for IBA. You don't even seem much
interested.
Me: (still smiling) Sorry, sir. It was a mistake.
Y.S.R: Ok, fine. (didn't seem convinced)
E.S: (looking at the other teachers) So, I think
th that's all, then?
(The other teachers nodded.)
Y.S.R: Ok, you can go now. The result will be published on the day after tomorrow.
Me: Ok, sir. Thank you. Assalamualaikum.
I left the room and went home. I was still smiling on the way home. Although I h
had not prepared
at all for the interview (I was just told by some of my friends to be myself and take all the insults
with a smile :P), it was certainly an entertaining experience for me and for the teachers as
well, I presume :P. The elderly teacher was smiling all throughout the interview while the
young teacher on the right did not even smile once :P. Later on, when I browsed the IBA
website, I realized that the elderly teacher was in fact Professor Dr. A. K. M. Saiful Majid, the
Director of IBA! So, that's it folks, that's "How I Met Your Director"!
Congratulations to everyone else who were selected and thanks to everyone who helped me.
Cheers! :D

my viva experience -- Trust me, it won't help much , but as some of u are keen to know it..here
it goes
Date- 15-6-2015;
5; Time: 12.30 (approx)
I entered into the room with their permission. Greeted them, they responded very warmly , took
my Student Info Form , looked at it, then asked
-so
so tell me what did u achieve in your life?
= I got awarded by my university for maintaining
maintaining a distinct CGPA till the end of my graduation.
- what is the distinction?
= replied.
then a mam asked me(with a lovely smile) ,
- Your face seems quite familiar to me, did you appear here before as well?
= Yes mam I was selected for the 53rd viva as well.
- That's why I felt I saw u somewhere before( I was amazed thinking an IBA faculty remembered
me for 6 months!! thus automatically a complacent smile on my face :P ) anyways tell me what
went wrong last time? why couldn't you make it back then?
= mam
m I believe I was acting bit stubborn, my intention was to explain y i feel my answer is
right, i just tried to justify it,,but maybe to the board, it seemed as if i were trying to defend my
wrong answer. Maybe my attitude didn't seem positive and ready enough
enough to the board.
- So do you think u overcame the flaw? did u work on it?
= yes mam a lot .
another teacher then said
- but u still look quite passive.
= (just a blushing smile)
- do u agree?
= if u r saying so sir, maybe I am looking passive,,though I am
am actually being cautious to avoid the
unwanted incident occurred last time.
-no
no you r talking well but ur non verbal approach looks a bit shaky. u did a course on
communication while ur graduation right?
= yes sir.
- so tell me what what is the ratio of verbal and non verbal expression in a communication, i m
sure u read it .
= yes sir i read it but can't recall the actual ratio, but I think it is 50-50.
50
= I heard it doesn't have its own campus, even it is set up at one floor of an apartment ( I
apologize to the students of eastern uni)
hearing this reply all the 6-7 teachers laughed for around 1-2 minutes telling did u understand
what did u just say?
= (embarrassing smile) maybe something funny sir but I actually meant it doesn't have acceptance
to much of the ppl because it is still unable to meet required criteria of a well renounced
university.
- so u dnt think it can be placed on #3?
= yes
then another sir asked following questions
time value - couldn't answer properly, he said u r saying whatever
whatever is coming into ur mind,,but it's
okay u r not doing bad.
cost of capital - answered.
interest rate- answered
difference between bills and bonds-
bonds answered .
types of secured stock - answered.
LIBOR - couldn't catch it thus skipped it ,( my finance teachers
teachers won't hesitate to kill me once they
come to know about it )
2-33 more fin related questions, i believe i answered them correctly they looked satisfied.
another teacher asked,
-do
do u know which area of our country is flooded at this moment?
= yes sir, north zone.
- do u think it is the proper time of flood?
= no sir, flood usually occurs during august - october duration ( completely wrong ans. yet they
nonded as if i were right :/ )
- do u think u know about bangladesh?
= yes sir i do.
- what area about bangladesh u think u know the most?
= liberation war.
- that's nice. tell me during the war in how many sectors were the freedom fighters divided?
= sorry sir i can't recall it at this moment.
- make a guess, u said u know a lot about liberation war.
= i guess 7 ( don't laugh please -_- )
-okay
okay can u name only one sector commander?
= major general khaled mosharof
- another one?
= major ziaur rahman
-another one?
= no sir sorry, i dnt know any more.
- at least u know 2 of them.
= where's ur district?
=gopalganj
- and it is famous for?
= it is the hometown of the father of our nation bangabondhu sheikh mujibor rahman.
another sir said,
- isn't he a sector commander as well?
= no sir.
- but he is the father of nation, if he isn't the sector commander how did he become so?
= sir he called for the war, but he couldn't participate in the war as he was captivated by
pakistani military throughout the war.
-u
u didn't share ur future plan , what do u wish to become?
= i want to start an ad agency of my own.
- can u name
me one female entrepreneur of our country.
= (named)
- okay the result is on 17th, goodluck :)
they were really amicable and lenient towards mistakes..this friendly environment helped me to
do well in viva. so i would really like to do their classes in future

My VIVA experience in 55th intake
>May I come in, sir?
>Yes. Please take your seat.
>Thank you, sir. Assalamualaikum.
>You have completed your graduation from Dhaka University. Your major was botany, right?
>Yes sir.
>There is a far distance between botany and MBA. Why do you like to study on MBA?
>Actually sir, I want to work in a managerial position in a reputed organization. So sir, I need an
MBA.
>Why do you want to work in a managerial position?
>Mam, I think that I can do better in a managerial position with the qualities I have.
>Ok, then tell us two of your qualities that you have for a managerial position.
>I think, I have patience and motivating power.
>How could you find that? Any evidence?
>Actually mam, during the preparation period for IBA admission I struggled for a 6 month long
period. I think, there I showed much patience. And I motivated my friends and family members
successfully, when they were in emotional conflicts.
>You have a PGD on Human Resource Management, Right?
>Yes sir.
>From where?
>From BIHRM sir.
>Oh, Where it is?
>In farmgate sir, just beside the tejgaon college.
>Is it a private organization?
>Yes sir, private but government approved.
>Ok, Why did you complete this PGD?
>Because sir, I want to be an HR manager.
>Do you know what is performance appraisal?
>Performance appraisal of an employee is the whole measurement of that employee’s performance,
attendance, work potential etc in a yearly basis.
>Tell us one of the motivational theories.
>Sorry sir, I can’t recall at this moment.
>You can recall none of them!
>Actually sir, there was no course on motivational theories in that program.
>Ok, then tell something what you have learned there.
>Sir, I learned the duties and responsibilities of an HR, recruitment policies, transfer, promotion
and so on.
>Haven’t you learned about disciplinary actions.
>Yes sir, there are some misdeeds which are brought under disciplinary action such as theft,
bribery, corruption etc.
>Ok young man. You may leave now and check your result on the day after tomorrow.
Then I found my admit no.1312 on 23rd December in the final result.

Mentioned other activities in the document regarding my details: writing in blog, writing short
stories, directing short films, choreography and playing cricket.

Me: May I come in Sir?

MZM sir: Yes. Sure. Hey, you are a tall young man. (I was just entering into the room).

Me: Assalamu alaikum.

MZM sir: Waalaikum assalam. Have a seat.

Me: Thanks you sir. (Handed over the paper)

MZM sir: Tell me your height in mile.

Me: Sorry sir. I don’t know.

MZM sir: ok. Tell me your height in km.

Me: Sorry sir. I don’t know sir. (I was totally out of mind. My palm was sweating.)

Sogra mam and MZM sir: (They were smiling.) Just guess.

Me: I can’t mam. Maybe 0.002 something. (Obviously, bad guess.)

MZM sir: ok. Tell your height in FPS system.

Me: (I was staring at sir and cursing myself for my height. Though 5feet 9inch height isn’t a great
height to notice. However, I was crying in my inner mind. I forgot about FPS system. ) I can’t
recall sir. Sorry sir.

MZM sir: (took a look on my paper.) oh. You have completed BSc in EEE from CUET. That means
you are an engineer.

Sogra ma’am: তাহেল তা এই ে র উ র তামােক িদেতই হেব। তা না হেল আজ যেত িদব না। তুিম চ া কর।
(She was smiling)

MZM sir: Don’t you know your height in feet?

Me: Yes sir. I know. (I was abashed.)

Sogra Ma’am: Do you write in blog. What are the topics?

Me: It’s regarding process and guideline of admission at engineering universities in our country.

MZM sir: Don’t you write about IBA admission process. (He was smiling.)

Sogra Ma’am: Sir, he is still an aspirant of IBA. (They were laughing and so was I.)

Sogra Ma’am: What is the most current issue you have written about?

Me: It is about women harassment at TSC in Pahela Boisakh.

Sogra Ma’am: So, do you think that women should not go outside?

Me: I don’t think so. As a concerned citizen I cannot compromise with the development of my
country. Other countries of the world are developing perpetually by the combined effort of men
and women. So, why should I argue against that? On the other hand, we have become civilized.
So, both men and women should follow some protocols about their outfit. If I attended this viva
by putting on casual T-shirt and funky jeans pant, would it be really compatible with this
atmosphere? Furthermore, our religion islam doesn’t prohibit women from participating in work.

Sogra Ma’am: How do u think that Islam support female education and work?
Me: History shows that in different important wars such as badr women had great contributions.
Moreover, for developing islam the contributions of woman sahabis is inevitable. And the daughter
of our prophet(s) Fatima (as) memorized many hadiths and taught those to others.

MZM sir: In our country, most of the bloggers are religiously motivated. What about you?

Me: (I had thought he wanted to know that whether I am extremist or not.) No sir. I am not an
extremist.

MZM sir: oh no. u didn’t get my point. I have asked whether u r an atheist or not.

Me: Absolutely no sir. I am not an atheist.

MZM sir: so, you are a theist?

Me: definitely sir.

Junior ma’am: What was your most recent story writing?

Me: Actually, ma’am I always like to write something about luck. My most recent short story is
“অদৃ ে র পিরহাস।”

junior ma’am: give us a short review.

Me: one girl named ovantika who has a great power to realize the portent of any incident in
anticipation. In fact, in some cases she can save some life. She is really a benefactor for others.
However, one day she realizes that she will get a major accident with her families. That day, she
sent her husband with her only son to her parents. She thought that if they stay with her they
will also be sufferer. Unfortunately, her husband and son along with her parents have been
attacked by fire in home. All of them had died. But she got a very simple injury by a car accident.
It was a tragic story.

Junior ma’am: So, what is the moral of the story?

Me: Maybe we can guess the incident. But, we can’t necessarily alter our luck. So, we should leave
everything on Allah. Never try to play with luck.
Sogra Ma’am: could you tell me the differences between luck and fortune?

Me: (Paused.)

MZM Sir: Ok. U may go now. Check your result on June 19.

Me: Thanks for this nice conversation. Assalamu alaikum.

Interview board of Batch 55 Full Time

Board No.-3 (3.00 pm-4.00 pm) Roll-2571 Board Panel- Momen Sir, Sutapa Ma’am, Shakila Yasmin
ma’am, Shakil Huda Sir. Duration of viva: 10-15 minutes.

Mentioned other activities in the document regarding my details: Writing in blog, writing short
stories, editing and translating Wikipedia article, directing short films, choreography, cooking and
playing cricket.

Me: May I come in Sir?

Momen sir: Yes. Come in.

Me: Assalamu alaikum.

Momen sir: Waalaikum assalam. Have a seat.

Me: Thanks you sir. (Handed over the paper to Momen sir). Good Afternoon ma’am.(addressing
sutapa ma’am. I just guessed that she isn’t muslim.)

Sutapa ma’am: Good afternoon.

Momen sir: মামুন স ার থাকেল মজা পেতন। (He was laughing. I didn’t know why he was saying that.)

Me: Sir, I faced him last time.

Momen sir: oh.gr8. Then you have experience about him.

Momen sir: 3.44 in B.Sc from CUET. So, how would you compare a BUET graduate having 3.4 with
a CUET graduate having cgpa 3.4?

Me: It is a bit tough task. (Everyone was laughing). From some aspects a graduate of CUET is more
competent than that of BUET. On the other hand,… (They interrupted me)

SH Sir: তুিম তা ই বুঝ নাই। িক সব বলেতছ?

Me: Sir, I have got the question. Please, let me explain some scenario. (Again I was interrupted)
SH Sir: What did sir ask to you? Is that individual case or generalized?

Me: Generalized. Well. In that case, BUET graduate is more competent than CUET graduate.
However, CUET graduates have already proved that they are the best in some sectors. (I was in a
conundrum situation and becoming angry. I was thinking they were trying to humiliate my
University. Maybe they were trying to test my patience. However, I was somewhat stubborn. It
isn’t a good approach. So, don’t try this during your viva. Just try to stay cool. I thought I didn’t
have any hope to get myself admitted.)

Momen sir: other activities-Writing in blog, writing short stories, editing and translating Wikipedia
article, directing short films, choreography, cooking...(He was reading all of those aloud and
laughing.)

SH Sir: স ার, কান িকছু আর বাদ রােখ নাই।

Momen sir: You do everything. That means you are not an expert.

Me: Actually, sir when I find interest in any topic, I try to focus on that topic. And yes I am not
expert in those topics because these are my hobby instead of profession. Furthermore, most of my
hobbies are related to writings.

Momen sir: what do you write? Tell about your most recent approaches.

Me: Recently, I have written a story named “অদৃ ে র ধৃ তা”. This story was regarding an ugly,
unlucky village girl. Overcoming a huge obstacle she and her husband got themselves as a public
service cadre. Moral of the story is-how our luck can play with us? So, we are not supposed to
humiliate anyone and become frustrated in our life.

Sutapa ma’am: Do you know how to cook? (In our whole conversation, she starred at me as if I
were alleged for crime. Maybe she didn’t like any of my approach.)

Me: Yes ma’am.

Everyone was laughing.

Sutapa ma’am: Which types of food you can cook?

Me: Some Mexican, Chinese and Arabian dishes. Some of our cultural foods and cakes.

Momen sir: Mexican? (He was laughing aloud)

SH Sir: Tell me about the Mexican item “Cilantro” or something. (I have never heard about that.)

Me: Sorry Sir. I don’t know.

SH Sir: Then how can you cook Mexican food? You are not a good cook.

Me: Sir, Sometimes I cook for my parents and cousins. I have already said that I am not a
professional cooker. (Slip of tongue. Everyone was laughing. Specially, Shakil Huda sir enjoyed it.
He mocked me by saying that I am a shooter, cooker and baker. He was really nice.) Sir, I can
cook an Arabian dish named Kabza very well. (I have turned the interview towards me by saying
that. And Shakil Huda sir helped me a lot.)

SH Sir: oh. Gr8. It is khabs (খ ).He has tried to ameliorate my pronunciation for 30 sec. (I also
tried attentively.)

Momen sir: What is your resource to learn about these recipes? Is that YouTube?

Me: Actually, no sir. My maternal uncle lives in Saudi Arabia. He helps me a lot.

SH Sir: So, He is a chef?

Me: No Sir. He is a dentist.

Momen Sir: He is from Saudi and his girlfriend from Mexico?

Me: (Everyone was laughing and so doing I.) No sir. He is married. And my aunt is from
Bangladesh.

Shakila Yasmin ma’am: Did u make short films? What was the topic?

Me: Yes ma’am. When I was at my undergrad university I have made two short films. (It wasn’t
truth. I have made those after my graduation with my friends.) Those were regarding our cricket
and liberation war.
Momen Sir: How these two things were managed in one film?

Me: no sir. I have made two different clips by two different topics.

Shakila Yasmin ma’am: oh. One film of cricket and another of liberation war?

Me: Yes ma’am.

Momen Sir: So, how would you correlate liberation war and cricket of Bangladesh?

Me: (I was confounded. Paused for about 10 sec. Then suddenly started….) actually, sir from one
aspect our eleven players are freedom fighters.

Momen Sir: what? Freedom fighter? Ha ha (everyone was laughing).

Me: (I have interrupted and said) Sir, let me explain the matter. What did our freedom fighter do
during liberation war? They have protected us from the abusive machinations of West Pakistan
army and conserved our rights. And our cricket team represents our country and conserved our
dignity during a match. Because, many countries such as India, Pakistan etc. still try to abase our
country. One made our country free and one is maintaining that freedom. So, both are doing the
same task from different aspect and in different period. So, why should I not show respect to our
present fighter.

Shakila Yasmin ma’am: How did different countries abase our country by cricket? In fact many
countries such as USA, Canada don’t play cricket, do they?

Me: Yes ma’am. They play cricket.

Shakila Yasmin ma’am: Yet, they don’t play cricket so well.

Me: No ma’am. Canada plays the cricket well. In fact, they had defeated Bangladesh in 2003 world
cup. (I was excited. I have directly opposed ma’am.)

SH Sir: (He had supported me. And said) Yes. Right madam.

Me: At that time, Khaled Masud Pilot was the captain of BD cricket team.

Momen Sir: Yes. After taking a catch, he flied in the air. Ha ha (he was laughing).
Momen Sir: Ok. You may go now.

SH Sir: Check your result on Dec 23 after 5 pm.

Me: Sure. Thank you sir. Assalamu alaikum.

My 59th IBA MBA Intake's Viva Experience
Heard the call "2249" and I entered the room ... It was a nice(!) conversation
conversa
- Good noon everyone, Assalamualaikum
- Walaikumussalam ... Please have a seat
- What time it is ??
- Sir, it's 12 p.m.
- Then why did you say Good Morning ??
- I guess I said Good Noon ... If I somehow said Good Morning, it's my bad ... I'm sorry for that
- No, it's alright (He smiled). So you're from KUET IPE ... Then why do you want to pursue MBA
??
- Sir, I do believe that I have the technical knowledge, but if I have the managerial skills and
combine them, that will be a deadly combination ... Right
Right now the world is mostly business
oriented ... As an Engineer, I know how to deal with the machines ... If I complete my MBA, I will
know how to deal with human, how to manage them, lead them ... So I guess both are necessary.
- Yes, but that's not mandatory
tory ... You have decent job opportunities right now .. Have you
applied for any ??
- No sir ... Not yet ... I prefer learning at first.
- Okay. Tell me about the economy of Khulna ?? It's mostly dependent on which sector ??
- Umm ... I don't have any statistical
istical knowledge ... But I guess Fishery ... As it's surrounded by so
many rivers and fishes are quite available ... So...
(May be that was a dumb answer -_- )
- What is project ??
- A goal or set of works which needs to be accomplished within a specific time satisfying a
specific set of constraints may be ??
- Are you sure ??
- I guess yeah
- How could you guess ??
- I had a course called 'Project Management' ... I can't recall the specific definition right now, but
it was something like this.
- Alright. You said you love to write and you wrote in different online sites. How many articles
did you write ??
- 20-30 approximately
- What type of articles ??
- Fiction mostly ... Some science based stuffs for the kids on bdnews24 and math tricks on z2i.
- Great.. Name a few companies you wanna work for after 2-3
2 years.
- BAT, Chevron, Nestle, Unilever etc etc
- Well, all those companies are multinational companies ... Did you say those deliberately ??
- Yes mam ... I have a weakness for MNCs
- So you studied at a public university, came for viva in a public university as well .. But you
wanna serve a MNC ?? ... Do you think that's ethical ??
- Sir, I won't serve there for long .. I guess MNCs are well structured, they are doing well ... If I
can join there, I will have experience and later I'm gonna join any local company, use that
experience to improve them or I'm gonna make my own startup ... That will add value to my
country as well. That's a long term plan.
- okay, so you're joining a MNC only to learn and gather
gather experience and then you walk away ...
From the perspective of that company, is that ethical ??
(Everyone smiled realizing that they successfully put me in a trap) -_-
- Almost everyone switches their job, I guess it's not unethical
- Well, almost everyone takes bribe, so is that ethical ??
(now they are smiling almost loudly and I smiled like an idiot as well) :v
- Erm ... umm ... Sir ... actually ... it's fair to switch a job after a few years ... (I kept smiling)
- Nope. I guess you're
ou're not an ethical person.
- No sir, I try to maintain my ethics ... but...
- hahaha .. but you're confused now, right ??
- yes sir ... (I smiled)
- Okay gentleman ... Check your result on day after tomorrow. Good luck.
- Thank you sir ... Assalamualaikum.
Assalamualaiku

Alhamdulillah. I have been able to sell myself to IBA !! being a part of this transcended business
school is an absolute euphoria. I have got to share my interview experience as some of you
aspirants wanted to know. here it goes....
Me: may i come in sir?
Sir: yes, come in.
Me: assalamualaikum sir.
Sir: walaikum assalam.....sit down young man. so, you are meherajul hasan?
Me: yes sir.
Sir: from where have you completed your graduation?
Me: said accordingly.
Sir: why do you prefer IBA to FBS( Faculty of business studies,DU). you can easily complete your
MBA from FBS in 1 year.
Me: sir, i think time is not a factor here. quality is the main factor that i should consider.
Sir: so you want to say that FBS has lower quality than IBA????
Me: not that sir. undoubtedly IBA is the best.but FBS is trying to be the best and i want the best
one.
Sir: on the basis of which criteria you think IBA is the best.
Me: IBA has the best faculties and the luminaries these facultis are producing are not only getting
ascendancy over other universities student's but also making our country proud by bringing many
international recognition.
Madam: hasan you completed your graduation in 2014, your data show a 1-year gap. what have
you done in that gap?
Me: as i was and still is passionate about IBA, it was quite impossible for me to do anything apart
from my preparation. i had to improve my skills in mathematics as i am from business studies
background. I was subscribed in new york times to increase my reading as well writing skills.
Sir: so you read new york times daily??
Me; yes sir.
Madam: who is the running mate of hillary clinton then?
Me: Tim kaine mam. ( took 5 sec. to answer this question as i couldn't remember instantaneously.)
Sir (director of IBA) : yes young man. K-a-i-n-e.Tim kaine.
sir( director): what's your future plan?
Me: i want to be a faculty member of IBA, sir.
Sir: Faculty member!!!!! what's your CGPA??
Me: 3.55 sir.
sir: do you think that with this CGPA, it is possible for you?
Me: sir, i firmly believe that if i do better in MBA, then i will be able to achieve that.
Sir( director): (asked the other teachers whether they had any questions. all answered no.) ok.
young man. you may go now. your result will be published tomorrow. check that out.
Me: thank you sir. assalamualaikum.
Now the central
tral point is that they were very friendly. i just shrugged off my nervousness when i
saw the smiley face of them.
Recommendation to the aspirants: viva is not a factor at all. you have got to be cool, that's it. if
you endure the bitter taste of the preparation,
preparation, in sha Allah you will make it to the IBA. just stay
focused and always remind yourself of what you have got to do prior to the admission test. be
tenacious. happy preparing :)
