February 18, 2020

A. Solve the following problems neatly and accurately. Write your answer on a long
bondpaper.

1. Let D be an interior point to ABC. Suppose that mABC = 84 and the measure of
ABD is 5 less than twice the measure of DBC, find the measures of ABD and
DBC.
2. Consider the figure below:
mABF = 86, mABC = 2x – 14, mCBD = x + 10, mDBE = 2x, mEBF = x
Find the measure of the following angles:

A
C
D
E
F
B
a) mABC b) mCBD c) mCBE d) mDBE
e) mEBF f) mCBF

3. The sum of the measures of an acute angle and an obtuse angle is 159. The measure
of the obtuse angle exceeds three times the complement of the acute angle by 5.
Find the measures of the two angles.
4. Twice the measure of an angle is 30 less than five times the measure of its
supplement. What is the measure of the angle?
5. One of the four angles determined by two intersecting lines measures 48. Find the
measures of the other three angles.

B. Refer to the figure below:

A D
E

C
B

Prove the following statement:

Suppose that ABC and DBE are right angles and A and D are interior points
of CBE, then CBD  ABE .
