Comments:

Day 1:

Having no concrete knowledge on audit, we were very excited to attend this training. The training
started with introduction session. The participants were from diverse industries like banking, NGOs,
distilleries etc. After that the training proceeded to definition of general terms and terminologies
used during audit. The trainer defined compliance, non-compliance, evidence, auditor, auditee, audit
plan, audit program, risk, audit conclusions, etc.

Day 2:

Second day mainly covered on core concepts of audits and its different factors. First the types of
audits were defined as 1 st Party Audit (Internal), 2 nd Party Audit (Supplier) and 3 rd Party Audit
(External/Independent). In our company’s application, the audit done by Quality Assurance is an
example of 1st party audit. If will be audited by any of its suppliers and contractors, it will be called
2nd party audit. And finally if for example URS Nepal will audit, it will be called 3 rd party audit since it
is independent organization.

Day 3:

The third day was mainly the implementation of the knowledge gained on the earlier two days. We
practiced how to prepare an audit report which includes pre audit briefing, audits procedures,
audits, checklist, compliance and non-compliance and classify them into different categories. All of
us took a general example of auditing an internal audit department as an external auditor. We also
practiced filling up audit evidences on the turtle diagram approach of audit findings.

Recommendation:

As fresh learners in quality assurance department, the above mentioned audit program was very
applicable to learn the basics of auditing concept in general. However, specialized audit techniques
in aviation are essential for us as future auditors.
