my colleague, we had great visions of success and
therefore we made an objective of winning that
competition. We spent all our vacation in discussing
about a project, but our motto of the project was to
become rich (probably a millionaire) and therefore
we spent all our time by seeing the trophy and the
cash prize, rather than knowing the real value of science, we wanted to
pursue success. We always lived in fears, in fear of not winning competition,
in fear of not getting money, in fear of dying. However the project was
completed in time and was submitted. And all that months waiting for results
with fears, the results came and we’ve failed miserably. I was deeply hurt
and cried for days.
But everything happens for a reason, I’ve failed but I decided to get up.
Every time I failed I had the strength to get up. I discovered my true passion
for science. Now I don’t have the desire to win neither the fear to lose. All I
have is a true desire from heart to serve the generation with my passion and
pursuing for excellence.

SUMMARY
Everyday millions of people die in road accidents. The most commonly either by hit and
run or by not following the traffic rules. Most of the population in India uses Road
transportation for daily life like city busses, cars, motorbikes etc. Out of these, in car
accidents people die due to not wearing seatbelts or drinking and driving.
SAFEDRIVE™ is an efficient, low cost device that can be used in cars for safety
purpose. It ensures that the car driver is wearing seatbelt and has not consumed
alcohol. And all these things come in a low cost manner with high quality things.
SAFEDRIVE™ comprises of two primary sensors and two secondary sensors and a
microcontroller to integrate all data produced by sensors, command, detect malfunction
and analyze.

India ranks second in road accidents followed by China. This is increasing significantly
day by day. World Health Organization reasons the lack of safety measures in vehicles
for the accidents.
It’s not that I’m the first person to invent concept but it’s the way that matters and of
course, the price of object. This project won’t disappoint you.

With all these things and my humble request to the judges to read the content, I’ve
finished with all summary and proceeding with other contents of my project.

This thing can also arise in your mind also, why I am doing all this. There are
many people who can do this then why only me? This could be a question
arising in your mind and I will surely answer this.
While making of this project I always thought of my purpose which made me
do all this without expecting anything in return…
My soul of purpose is to help the people who really need. My innovation can
save millions of lives per day who die in car accidents due to their carelessness.
My project will also provide livelihood to many people around the globe.
Abolishing poverty in our country is also my purpose.
India needs to have a groundbreaking idea or innovation, my purpose is also
to make my project globalize and also to represent India is some global
international project.

ABOUT MYSELF
I introduce myself as a student in 9th standard in DAV Public School. From my
childhood I was highly passionate about the beauty of science and was
intrigued by innovations. I tried to search science in my surroundings rather
than books, which made me understand it better. Science was and is my first
love, however, discovered later in my life. I always wanted to be
extraordinary in science and wanted to reach till perfection in my work.
Other than love of science, I also crushed on Mathematics; the mother of all
sciences, which provided a fundamental framework to the foundation of
science. An equation doesn’t hold any value to me unless it expresses beauty
of science. Perfection is meaningless without the existence of science. The
pure science comes from nature. To express our feelings in unique way we
need Mathematics.
WHY ONLY THIS COMPETITION?
This competition means a lot for me as this is not only a national
competition but it’s also a path for finding my way in future. I’ve never
participated with the desire to win this competition but it was my purpose
which made me do it, I request to reader that if you think that I and my
innovation is capable to change this realm, then please you too help
someone. And only give us what we deserve.

Now let’s discuss about the functions of the devices installed in SAFEDRIVE™.
Seatbelt Verifier 1(SV1) – It is used to know that whether the seatbelt is buckled up or
not (Fig 1.2). It uses simple principles of mechanics and electricity. There’ll be a button
like structure on the top of the device that will be pressed when the seatbelt is putted
up (Fig 1.4, 1.5) then, the circuit will join and current will pass, from the battery inside
the cell like structure indicating that the seatbelt is in usage.

Alcohol Level Verifier (ALCO VERIFIER) – It’s used to know the level of alcohol in your
body. It contains an alcohol level sensor from air (Fig 1.3). It’ll detect the level of
alcohol consumed, if the level is more than 0.3% then, the car won’t be permitted to
start. Electric signals wouldn’t be sent to (PAS) permission acceptance system. And thus
the car won’t start.

Display Module (MOD) – This is an OLED display (Fig 1.6) that will show the statistics of
your car. It will contain an Arduino™ Board which will process the raw data into
statistical form and will also show the necessary details of your car’s safety.

Permission Acceptance System (PAS) – It’s the heart and most important system in
SAFEDRIVE™. It will give or deny permission based on the results from SV1 and ALCO
Verifier. It’ll contain a Raspberry Pi™ Module to take require decisions and also to
provide the raw data to the MOD. It will get electrical signals from the SV1 and ALCO
Verifier, based on this principle, this system will work.

PROCESSING OF SYSTEM
We have discussed about the few elements (devices) in SAFEDRIVE™, now we
will discuss about the working of the system. Please refer to hierarchy (H.1.) on
the next page.

Collection of Data – The first stage is to collect data from SV1 and ALCO verifier. This
stage will take time depending on the person doing that but the avg. time is 30s-1min,
if this stage is skipped and the driver tries to start the car then the startup will be
cancelled.
Assembling of Data – It is the second stage in which the collected data will be
assembled and will be sent to PAS for car startup permission. The collected data will
be assembled and directly sent to PAS, the time taken for this process is 4-7 sec.
Decision – The assembled data will further move towards PAS and PAS will decide what
to do. The PAS will take decision and send the data to MOD where the statistics will
take place. Time for this process will be 1min-1.4min.

two main things. Now, we shall move towards another important thing in this
project, the structure of system or SAFEDRIVE™.

STRUCTURE OF SYSTEM

One of the important parts of any engineering project or innovation is its structure. In
this module we’ll discussing about the structure of SAFEDRIVE™. We’ve already earlier
discussed the components, its functions and how the processing does takes place. Let’s
proceed towards the structure of SAFEDRIVE™.

The structure starts from the simple SV1. The SV1 will be 2cm in height and 0.5cm in
width. It’ll have a red bar with bed of springs below it which will be pushed when the belt
will be inserted in its place, when this will happen the circuit will be joined and current
would pass through it as the empty place between the end of circuit and spring bed will
have a cell. This current will reach the PAS indicating the use of seat belt.

The next step would be ALCO verifier, which would be performed with the help of an
ethanol, methanol and alcohol detecting sensor which could intake the breath from your
mouth and will crosscheck it; if alcohol is found less than 0.3% then it would pass
current and it would be received by PAS; if alcohol is found then, current would not
pass and hence, PAS would deny the permission for startup.

In cases, in which the PAS will deny the permission, the high voltage circuit connecting
spark plug will break. And the startup would stop, if the startup has stopped for not
wearing seatbelt then the system will have a recheck within next 45sec-1min but if it’s
for high alcohol consumption then system will at least require 5-20mins depending upon
the amount of consumption.

FACTUAL QUESTIONS

Q. What if someone wears seatbelt at first (time of startup) and removes after car
starts?

Sol. SAFEDRIVE™ is synced in every 2-4sec and if the does so while the middle of
driving then, the system will stop the car by blocking the fuel gauge and he won’t be
able to start his car for next 10mins. Also that would be recorded on the MOD.

Q. What if someone undrunk will don’t off the car and have alcohol?

Sol. It would be a true stupid if he does so, the alcohol sensor will detect your breath
i.e. a gas if the drinks even one sip from bottle then, it would spread very
fast(diffusion), and sensors would detect it, the same process will happen which was
there for first question.

By all these methods and processes SAFEDRIVE™ will work, However I’ve used
very basic and fundamental level of science in this. I hope you like my idea.

CONCLUSION REPORT
Hereby, I proclaim that the aim of the project that was to promote safe
driving, create employment opportunities and to help the society can be

To be honest, I’ve only used Google search bar, Wikipedia.org and World Health
Organization data records for finding useful data. I’ve also used Microsoft Word to
create this project. I’m very thankful to MS Paint and Google Images for providing
pictures and editing them, some pictures were also captured by me.
This idea is originally mine and I hereby proclaim that NO Person was involved
except me in development and designing of this project.
