Microscopic slide: It holds material being viewed under a microscope.
Crucible and cover: Device employed to hold small amounts of chemicals during
heating at high temperatures.
Specimen dish: Used to view specimens.
Test Tube: Instrument used for heating or holding small quantities of a substance.
Test tube brush: Instrument used to clean a test tube.
Test tube clamp: Device used to hold a single test tube.
Test tube rack: Instrument used to hold test tubes in an upright position.
Thermometer: Device used to measure temperature of a substance.
Triple Beam balance: It measures the mass of an object (g).
Goggles: Device used to protect the eyes from chemical substances.
Bunsen Burner: Instrument used to heat substances.
Spot plate: A flat plate with multiple “wells” used as small test tubes.
Pipet bulb: It is used to pull liquid up into a pipet.
Stirring rod: Instrument used for stirring.
Evaporating dish: Liquids are heated over a flame so that they evaporate leaving a
solid residue.
Crucible tongs: Instrument used to hold hot crucibles.
Forceps: Tool used to pick up or hold small items.
Watch glass: To hold solids while being weighed, or as a cover for a beaker.
Utility clamp: Device used to hold laboratory glassware.
Mortar and pestle: Used to grind up materials.
Volumetric pipet: Instrument that measures small amounts of liquids accurately.
Striker: Tool used to light Bunsen burner.
Lab Coat/Lab Apron: Piece of clothing that protects the scientist and his/her
clothes.

Balance: An instrument for determining weight.
Dropper pipet or disposable pipet: Instrument used for drawing in a liquid and
expelling it in drops.
Volumetric flask: Glassware for making up solutions to a known volume.
Rubber stopper: Used to cover the ends of test tube and flasks.
Spatula: Small scoop used to transfer powder and crystal chemicals.
Wire gauze: Material used to support a container (such as beaker or flask( during
heating.
