Introduction
Islam has been ordered concerning various charities. And one of
them is the Sadqah e Fitr which is permissible to give on the
eve of eid ul fitr. In this short article we will highlight the
different aspects of teaching, orders and problems associated
with Sadqah e fitr.
All the scholars agree that a slave will not be obliged to dispense of
Sadaqah al-fitr
The needy
Zakat can be spent to help the invalids,orphans,widows,the aged, and the
jobless people and those who have been affected with unforeseen calamities.
Because they are unable to earn enough to maintain themselves
The indigent
They are destitute and helpless people but they would never beg to anyone
as they are so self respecting.
The collectors of zakat
They are the official agents who are appointed to collect zakat and ushr and
then distribute among the needy people
Winning over of heart to Islam
People whose hearts are to be reconciled to Islam. They maybe newly
converted to Islam,such people must be given money out of zakat funds.
Ransoming of slaves
Zakat can also be given to slave or war captive .If there is no slave at a
certain time ,expenditure on this head will remain suspended
Helping the debtors
Those people who are heavily under debt and thus cannot save enough to
pay their debt or if they pay their all debt they may be left with nothing
The way of Allah
This applies to jihad and those efforts which are aimed at propagating and
establishing Islam.The expenses incurred in this connection on movement
can be met from Zakat fund.
Hospitality of the way-farers
The way-farer if he is in nee of help while on journey can be helped by zakat
money despite of the fact that he is rich at his home
Conclusion
Zakat Al-Fitr is an obligation upon every Muslims that has to be completed in
the assigned time. This is a generous practice of Islam where it connects the
rich with the poor, and the poor with the poorer, thus eliminating poverty and
reducing the disparity gap between the rich and the poor. This form of charity
ensures no poor person goes hungry during Ramadan and more importantly
increases our iman towards Allah (SWT).
