An adequate number of people consider internet, which is a result from an advancement in

technology, as the most remarkable discovery in modern history. Even though internet is an
astonishing invention that already given so many significance benefits in our lives, however,
I do not acknowledge it as the most valuable one. In my personal opinion, electricity that
was found by Michael Faraday is regarded as the most phenomenal finding.

Undoubtedly, internet imparts so much easiness on our daily activities. One of the most
essential aftermath of internet is shrinking in distance. Nowadays, we are able to
communicate with people from different side of the world and have access on information
from anywhere. Aside from that, we cannot detach business as one of the areas that is most
affected by internet. Nowadays, e-commerce is very topical activity. We can buy anything
from anywhere and our target market can be spreading all around the world.

However, all of those life changing benefits cannot be attained if there is no electricity.
Because we are depending so much on internet, once our electricity is gone, this can be a
“dark world” situation. As stated in novel The President is Missing by Bill Clinton, once the
electricity is nowhere to be found, the world can evolve into chaotic mess. We cannot get
our money from ATM, our banking system will be turbulent. Furthermore, economic and
business areas will be influenced inevitably; stock exchange and e-commerce will heavily
impacted. Additionally, if there is no electricity our connection on information is elapsed. If
we are using GPS as our information, we can no longer rely on that.

To conclude, I consider that encompassing internet as the most important invention is an

exaggeration. I do believe that the enormous benefits of internet can only be assessed using
electricity.
