MAINTENANCE OF CRITICAL COAL SUPPLIES DURING COVID-19

“Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pralhad Joshi has
ensured that Coal supplies are declared as an Essential service and directed all the
officials of Ministry of Coal to work harder to ensure that critical coal supplies are
maintained during the lockdown period due to COVID 19 pandemic so that power
and other critical sectors are unaffected due to the current situation.”

 Coal Supply declared as an essential service.


 Direction to officials of Ministry of Coal to ensure supplies of coal during the
entire lockdown to keep power and other critical sectors unaffected.
 Regular meetings of all the senior officers of Ministry to take place for
monitoring the production, supplies and dispatch of coal.
 Coal Stocks at power plant stands at 41.8 MT which is sufficient for 24 days
consumption as of on 26.03.2020.

INTERACTION OF PRIME MINISTER WITH AYUSH

“Prime Minister underlined the importance of countering and fact checking


unsubstantiated claims of AYUSH having cure for the disease, adding that AYUSH
scientists, ICMR, CSIR and other research organizations must come together for
evidence based research. He said that the country must be ready to use the entire
healthcare workforce to meet the challenge, and if the need so arises, help from
private doctors connected with AYUSH may be sought by the government.”

 PM had praised the on-going efforts of AYUSH Ministry towards promotion of


#YogaAtHome to de-stress the mind and strengthen the body in current
situation.
 PM suggested the producers of AYUSH medicine can use their resources for
manufacturing of essentials like sanitizers as they are in demand for prevention
from COVID-19.
 PM also urged AYUSH Ministry and medicine producers to reach out to public
and create awareness.
 Focus on the need of social distancing for countering the spread of pandemic
COVID-19.

REFLIEFS IN POWER SECTOR

“Despite the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic,
the whole workforce of the power sector – generation, transmission, distribution
and system operations - is working round the clock to keep all homes and
establishments lighted.”
 Union Power Ministry will ensure 24*7 supply of electricity during the
Lockdown.
 Payment of security by Discoms to Generating Companies reduced to 50%.
 Moratorium for three months to Discoms for making payment to generating
companies and transmission licensees.
 No levy of penal rates of late payment surcharge.

SUPPORT TO MIGRANT WORKERS DURING LOCKDOWN

“With the intent of Modi Government to provide all possible support to migrant
workers, the Union Home Secretary has again written to States requesting them to
immediately set up Relief Camps for migrant workers/pilgrims etc who are
returning to their domicile states or trying to do so during this lockdown period.”
 Complete support to be provided to the migrant workers during lockdown.
 Relief Camps to be setup for migrant workers/pilgrimage; returning to their
domicile or trying to do so during lockdown.
 Shelters are also to be organised keeping in mind the social distancing and
adequate medical check-ups to take place.
 Ensure such person stay in Relief Camps till the lockdown orders are in place.
REFUND ON RAILWAY TICKETS BOOKED FOR JOURNEY

“In view of cancellation of all passenger trains and all passengers ticketing upto
14th April 2020, it has been decided by Indian Railways to give full refund for all
tickets for journey period from 21st March - 14th April 2020.”

 Tickets cancelled prior to 27.03.2020: refund of balance amount will be made


available.
 Tickets cancelled after 27.03.2020: Full refund shall me made.
