HLS200 Intelligence and Counterintelligence
Spring 2018
Introduction
Use this section to introduce your paper and explain the argument that you will make in
response to the instructions. Do not describe your paper, explain what is in it.
Start with a sentence which clearly states what your topic is and what your conclusions about it
are. Then explain how you will make the argument that links your topic to your conclusions.
Try to avoid statements which would describe any paper on the same topic or which don’t
explain what you mean (for example the statement “this paper will analyse the war in Uganda,
then make judgments about the UAEs national interests” doesn’t actually say anything).

Conclusion
Use this section to bring the arguments in your paper together, focusing on telling the reader
the outcomes of your report.
Do not use the conclusion to summarise what you have already said or to describe what your
report did. Instead, use what you have said to inform high-level judgments about the conflict
your studied.
