Pylon height 57m in a single plane with Saddle type & 26 nos. cable stays in 2 nos. Pylons.
Project cost : Rs 184 crore.

Contractor: L&T-HCIC 4 Lane carriageway( 2 on each side) & having Deck width 25.56m & PSC post-tensioned
box girder completely made up of high-performance concrete.

Project 2: CABLE STAYED BRIDGE OVER THE PETROVSKY CHANNEL, SAINT-PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
DESCRIPTION: The Bridge Crossing was conceived as a part of the important city Motorway Western High Speed
Diameter. The structure is located on convex curve of 10,000 m. Projection of upstream clearance is 166?25 m
and downstream clearance is 80?25 m. Foundations of piers were fulfilled as bored piles Ø1,500 mm. Deck cross-
section is presented as a structure of four main girders of 1.76 m height within stay cable system. Abutments
composed of six box type main girders of 1.76 m height. Bridge girders were connected via beams on distance
of 65 m. (3 m per edge piers). Composite monolithic carriageway slab thickness is 220 mm. SSI2000 was an
option of stay cable system with galvanized strands individually greased and coated with a high-density
polyethylene sheath. The strands are used in accordance with the EN10138 standard. Total strands are seven
wire 15.7mm diameter. Designated distance within stays is 13m. TECHNICAL FEATURES: Bridge configuration:
60+110+240+110+60 m Total length – 580 m RC pylons Pylon heights – 124 m

Project 4: Detailed Design & Construction supervision of Hodariyat Cable Stayed Bridge Project, Abu Dhabi,
UAE (1.3km long marine crossing single plane Cable Stayed Bridge project having a central span
200m with the stay pylons extending some 40m above the deck level.); Client: Tourism
Development & Investment Company (TDIC); Project Cost: USD 140 million/406 million AED/ INR
7260 million or 726 crores INR

Project Main features: This is UAE biggest Cable stayed bridge. The bridge had two approach sections of 450
mtrs. which were incrementally launched (55 Mtr typical spans) from the abutments and the central 200 portion
on cable stay (precast segment). The Deck was 36 mtr wide with single cell box girder with 4 struts in every 3
mtr. Cross section.

As Deputy Resident Engineer was involved in understanding the design provisions of cable stayed bridge, Project
preparation and Responsible for Review of Structural Designs and Drawings of proposed structures as per
Contract Agreement with modern Computer aided software, guiding and checking of reinforcement/cable laying
operation, checking and controlling the proper mix designs, checking the adequacy of proper form-work,
laying/compacting of concrete including curing operations & worked in close coordination with the
Quality/Material Engineer and the contractor's expert to effectively control the quality of execution. Also
responsible for minor modifications in design of bridges, wherever required during execution. In charge of the
works supervision reporting to the Engineer's Representative for the first cable stayed bridge in Abu Dhabi,
United Arab Emirates. Extensive marine construction with piles bored from barges and precast concrete shell
footings. Deck construction methods used are precast segmental balanced cantilever for 200m main cable
stayed span and incremental launching for approaches.

Main Responsibilities: Supervision of work, Preparation and development of work methodologies. Overall
management of execution side of Marine Activity like Piling, PC (Pile Cap) shell Installation, casting of Pile Cap.
Installation of Pier segments, pier head. Post tensioning and grouting of pier segment. Casting of lower pylon
from conceptualization to completion. Responsible for all the movement of barge, landing craft, tugs, shuttles.
Casting and installation of sub-structure of bridge in marine.

• The number of steel wires in stay cable 91 nos. Staycable at tower head is @1m c/cand anchored to centre
of the deck at 8 m interval.
• There are 6 nos. of stay cables on either side of the tower.
• The bridge was fitted with shock transmission units (STU) at each main pier to lock the deck to the
substructure under seismic loading.

Tower at Bandra Channel (P19) - Inverted "Y" shape with the inclined legs oriented along the axis of the bridge&
125m high above pile cap with varying cross-section. 4 inclined legs of tower meet at 70m from deck level and
continue straight for another 30m. The 30m straight portion is providedwith anchorages for stay cables. Grooves
are provided on the curved faces of the tower for aesthetics.
Tower at Worli Channel (P27 & P30) - Twin towers with overall tower configuration is "I" shape with the inclined
legs. Hammer head shape hollow pier of size 4m x 2.5m with height 18m.

Epoxy glue is used to join the segments. Temporary post-tensioning is done using 22 nos. stress bars during

Stay cable: Parallel wire system with 7mm dia. galvanized steel wires and 2 layers of HDPE. The number of steel
wires in stay cable
varies from 61 to 121 and the capacity of stay cable varies from 390T to 770T. The length of stay cable varies
from 85m to 252m. Dead
end of stay cable is anchored to the tower head and the live end is anchored to both sides of deck at 6minterval.

viaduct and cable stayed spans having span length of 50m/250m for via duct portion & cable stayed spans of
500 m & 350 m for
navigational clearance at Bandra and Worli respectively.

As Asst. Resident Engineer was involved in understanding the design provisions of cable stayed bridge, Project
preparation and Responsible for Review of Structural Designs and Drawings of proposed structures as per
Contract Agreement with modern computer adided Design software, guiding and checking of
reinforcement/cable laying operation, checking and controlling the proper mix designs, checking the adequacy
of proper form-work, laying/compacting of concrete including curing operations & worked in close coordination
with the Quality/Material Engineer and the contractor's expert to effectively control the quality of execution.
Also responsible for minor modifications in design of bridges/culverts, wherever required during execution.

the stations and 6Km viaduct for south section - Green Line of Dubai Metro project. His job was also Project

Supervision of construction of 6 km elevated viaduct which involves: -

• Construction of Piers, Pier Heads, Cross Beams, Hammerhead Piers.


• Erection of Segmental Box Girders (Single track and Double track) with Mechanized Self Launching

• Construction of Balanced Cantilever Spans by Segment Lifter/Crane (Pre-Cast) and Form Travellers (Cast-

Project 8: Construction Supervision of Allahabad Bypass Bridge Project of length 1010.2 m over river Ganga;
Erected by balance cantilever method with varying segment depths in Allahabad.; Client:
National Highways Authority of India, New Delhi; Project Cost INR.1082.3 million.

Project Main features:

• Length of the bridge - 1010.2m with 22.315m c/c between two carriageways and 12.00m clear distance on
top.
• Span Configuration- 62m + 95mx4 + 62mx2 + 95mx4 + 62m.
• Number and type of foundation - LCW & RCW- 13 x 2 Well foundations of 10.00m diameter with 1.25m
steining thickness.
• Type of superstructure -Segmental precast box girders, post tensioned and continuous except at Pier no.6
location and at abutment.
• Type of Construction -Balanced Cantilever Construction using Under Slung Launching Girder.
• Total no. of precast segments - segments – Length varying from 2.5m to 4.0m and weight varying from 50
to 95 tonnes.
• Bearings - Fixed POT bearings at P3 and P9 Free POT bearings at all other locations.
• Expansion joints - Multi cellular modular strip seal (7 cell at P6 and 4 cell at A1 & A2 each)
• Shock Transmission Units - each at P2, P4, P8 and P10 locations connecting pier cap to Deck soffit – 16 nos.
total.
• Pier - Hollow rectangular box of 5.0mx3.0mx0.6m thick, 8.457m high, cast in single pour.
• Pier Caps - 9.0m x 6.0m with varying depth.
• Continuity of spans - Continuity of spans spans of 95m & at 5th segment from abutment, stitched with
adjacent segments through high strength epoxy grout through the 100mm gaps.
• Carriageway width - 7.5m with 1.5m footpath on one side, carriageway centre is offset to deck centre by
950mm.

As Asst. Bridge / Structural Engineer, Responsible for Review of Designs and Drawings of proposed structures as
per Contract Agreement, responsible for review of site records, specifications, contract documents, contract
drawings, etc. construction supervision, monitoring and coordination between the team and the client.

Project Main features:

It was a 5.6 Km Road Bridge Project. The project involving construction of toll bridge, Main bridge across
Yamuna river, Noida interchange, Delhi interchange. Main bridge across Yamuna River was pre-cast post-tension
box segmental bridge involves casting a total of 288 nos. segments having width 16.275m, length of segment
4.0m & 2.5m to accommodate two ways with 6 lanes. Weight of segment varies from 80T to 110T. Interchange
Bridge was pre-cast Pre- tension I-girder having 11.1m & 21.1m length. Casting Yard for precast segment
production consisting of total 11 nos. beds:
• - 3 nos. longline beds for segment pre-casting; curved as well as straight spans.
• - 4 nos. short-line beds for pre-casting straight spans.
• - 4 nos. pier segment beds.

As Asst. Bridge Engineer, responsible for Checking of Structural Design of bridges / Culverts and other structures;
Carryout minor modifications in design/drawings for bridges, underpasses, grade separators and other
structures using latest computer aided design software; Checking the setting out of all bridges / Structures;
Checking bar bending schedule; staging and formwork details; Construction supervision of all bridges including
supervision of rehabilitation of existing bridges; Monitor the progress of work for finely completion of the
project; Implementation of Quality Assurance Program, Quality Control; Measurement of work.

As Asst. Engineer, duties included construction and execution of bridges, preparing bar bending schedule and
getting approval, setting the layout of bridges and other structures, supervision of the work of initial and
routine load testing for vertical and lateral load on piles, preparation of bar chart, checking of formwork and
steel reinforcement, exercising strict quality control during various stages of the project, monitoring the
progress of work at site, resource scheduling, preparation of monthly progress report, measurements of work
and preparation of bills for interim payment, coordination with client at every day of the execution of work.
