irregularities in Steel import from China for Mumbai Trans

Harbour Link Project

Bridge: 22 Km long Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL)

Contractor: L&T & IHI JV for package-1
Client/Owner: Mumbai Metro Regional Development Authority (MMRDA)
Consultant: GC
Total Project Cost: 17000 Crores

Irregularities:
1) Procurement issue:
2/3rd Steel Qty (Approx 50000 MT) purchase & fabrication job is being done
from China against Contract & Govt of India's "Make in India" policy just to
get the cheap product & simply benefiting the Contractor.
2) Quality issue:
They are not doing any fabrication for which quality is checked by
Consultant recruited for the same (No Tests & Inspections carried out by
GC(General Consultant)

Ground realities: we are manufacturing just 1/10th of Steel as compared to

China.

Compared to China India Manufacturers 1/10th quantity of Steel. We are

importing Steel from China. Where is "Make in India" policy?

Question is:
Why "Made in China"
Why "Made in Taiwan"
Why "Made in Vietnam" for the products we can make in India?
