Northwest Arkansas Traditional Scholarships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Feb. 10, 2020) —The deadline for students who are single parents to
apply for fall semester traditional scholarships offered by the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of
Northwest Arkansas (SPSF) is June 15. SPSF’s traditional scholarships are for students who are
single parents seeking an associate or bachelor’s degree, Master of Arts in Teaching or licensure
in cosmetology or massage therapy at approved Arkansas institutions.

The recipients of the traditional scholarships will receive $2,000 per semester as a full-time
student or $1,000 per semester as a part-time student to help defray education costs. A complete
list of the 23 approved institutions of study where students may use the scholarships can be
found at www.spsfnwa.org.

To be eligible, applicants must be a single parent residing in Washington, Madison or Carroll

counties, a legal U.S. resident, a high school or GED graduate, pursuing a career-oriented course
of study, living at or near the poverty level and an applicant for the Pell Grant. Additional
eligibility requirements apply.

The SPSF provides single parents with direct financial assistance to pursue a career-related
course of study to gain sufficient employment to meet the basic needs of their families. The
success of SPSF benefits the community by improving the workforce and decreasing the amount
of people relying on government resources.
