● Does the chairing group introduce the academic debate and/or
controversy clearly to the class?
● Does the introduction spark a lively academic discussion or
debate?

Quality of discussions during chair​:


● Does the group chairing succeed in keeping the discussion
focused on the main topic(s)?
● Are (real life) examples from the region, from lectures and
readings brought into the debate?

Quality of conclusion:​
● Is the group chairing able to clearly summarize the main points
reached during the discussion and conclude on where the
class stands in the academic debate?

Academic quality​:
● Do members of the chairing group master the topic well
enough to engage adequately with the main ideas presented
in the academic debate and are they able to relate the topic to
practical examples from the region?

Cooperation and participation as a group​:


● Are all members equally prepared and is there a balance in
the distribution of roles amongst the chairing group members?
