The range of your Wi-Fi connection can vary significantly depending on the physical placement of your router.

where to position your Wi-Fi router?
At the center of the area where your computers and other devices (smart TV, smartphone, laptops) are placed.

Keep the number of walls and ceilings between the Wi-Fi router and your other devices to a minimum.
Mirrors, sunlight, bricks and concrete can also affect the strength of your Wi-Fi signal.

Place your Wi-Fi router in an elevated location such as on a high shelf.

Away from electronic equipment (e.g. ceiling fans, home security systems, microwaves, PCs,
or the base of a cordless phone). These are potential sources of interference.

Two Wi-Fi networks are available:

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (speed up to 40 Mbps*)


5 GHz Wi-Fi network (speed up to 100 Mbps*)

Depending on your device compatibility (smartphone/ PC/ laptop/ smart TV/ others),
you might be able to see both Wi-Fi networks or only the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Connect the RJ45 cable from the either of LAN ports 1 or 4 of the router to the LAN port of your PC/ laptop.

Depending on your device compatibility (PC/ laptop/ others), you will be automatically connected
to the 5GHz network. Otherwise, you will be connected to the 2.4GHz network.

Great to know!
Best internet speed is guaranteed on the 5GHz network via a LAN cable which is free from wireless interference.

change my Wi-Fi name & password
1. Enter 192.168.100.1 in the address field of your browser. The welcome screen appears.

2. Insert your username and password and click on ‘Login’

Username: telecomadmin
Password: admintelecom

3. Select ‘WLAN’ from the top menu. You will be re-directed to the 2.4G Basic Network Settings.

4. In the SSID Name field, insert the name you wish to have for your Wi-Fi network at home.

You can disable the Wi-Fi network for a specific period of time by following the steps below:

1. Enter 192.168.100.1 in the address field of your browser. The welcome screen appears.

2. Insert your username and password and click on ‘Login’

Username: telecomadmin
Password: admintelecom

3. Select ‘WLAN’ from the top menu. You will be re-directed to ‘2.4G Basic Network Settings’.

4. On the column appearing on the left, select ‘Automatic Wi-Fi Shutdown’

Note:
This would NOT stop the wired internet connection from working.

5. Tick the box next to ‘Enable automatic Wi-Fi shutdown’

6. Insert the start time, end time and the days

7. Click on ‘Apply’

8. Go to ‘System Tools’

9. On the column appearing on the left, click on ‘Configuration File’

10. Click on ‘Save’

11. You may then log out from the interface by clicking on ‘Logout’ from the top right corner

Tips: Not getting 100 Mbps?
go through the steps below

1. Connect your laptop/ PC to the one of the LAN ports 1/ 3/ 4 of the router using the LAN cable (RJ 45).

2. Log on to www.speedtest.net. You may also download the ‘Speedtest’ app on your smartphone.

3. Select a local server (Port-Louis/ Rose-Hill/ Floreal)

4. Click on ‘Begin test’

5. If you are getting near to 100 Mbps, this means that


your connection is good.

Good to know!
The Wi-Fi network of 5GHz can provide up to 100 Mbps. However, several factors affect your speed:
• Your 100 Mbps experience will depend on the number of devices connected to the router.
• As you move away from the router, the speed shall degrade as per the physical radio environment.
Stay close to your wireless router for a better experience.
• Wireless routers from neighboring houses can also impact on your speed.
• Make sure you position your router in a place which is free from obstructions. Refer to page 8 to get some ideas !
