Standard S1.E22- Manipulative (volley, underhand)


TK/K- Volleys a lightweight object (balloon), sending it upward.
1st- Volleys an object with an open palm, sending it upward.
2nd- Volleys and object upward with consecutive hits.
3rd- Volleys an object with an underhand or sidearm striking pattern, sending it forward
over a net, to the wall or over a line to a partner, while demonstrating 4 of the 5 critical
elements of a mature pattern.
4th- Volleys underhand using a mature pattern, in a dynamic environment (e.g., two
square, four square, handball).
5th- Applies Skill

I Can S1.E22- I can strike a ball underhand using control.


Statement

Materials Balloon
Volleyball
Playground ball

Stretching In the menu section of this website, choose one stretching card to complete.

Warm-Up Run around your house 5x or jog in place for 1 minute.

Lesson 1. Hit a balloon into the air using an underhand motion. Keep your hand open, and
try to use control. Experiment for 2 minutes trying to keep the balloon in the air for
as long as you can.
2. For 30 seconds strike the balloon using just your right hand.
3. For 30 seconds strike the balloon using just your left hand.
4. For 1 minute strike the balloon using the pattern: right hand, left hand. Strike the
balloon alternating hands.

Challenge:

TK and Kindergarteners- try to get 30 strikes in a row!

1st grade- try to get 40 strikes in a row!

challenge, record your total number of strikes you completed in a row.
