Equipment: Turbo Javelins (5), Shot Puts (3), Cones (15), Discus (3)
(C) Explain at least 2 reasons during the closure why it is important to know when to retrieve the throwing
equipment. (N.S.G.L.O S2.M13.8, MCHCF 2.14, closure)
(P) Perform at least 2 out of the 3 skill cues at every station by the end of the lesson. (N.S.G.L.O S1.M21.8, MCHCF
2.2, Activity 1, 2,3)
(A) Be conscious of other students’ throwing path in all activities by staying within the boundaries and listening to
the teachers instructions. (N.S.G.L.O S4.M7.8, MCHCF 2.12, Activity 1,2,3)
1. Provide at least 1 positive specific and 1 corrective specific piece of feedback to each student throughout the
lesson
2. Assess as many students as possible, using the skill cues that were provided at the beginning of the class.
Special Considerations –
1. Many students may have experience playing baseball or softball but as the instructors, you need to reiterate
that these sports are not the same, for example, throwing a javelin is not the same as pitching a baseball.
2. Always consider safety, for example, for when the students are in a line for the javelin, make sure you are telling
the students when to “retrieve” or when to “cease fire”. For the discus and shot putt, you need to make sure the
students that are not throwing for either, that they need to behind the boundary cones of the area that the
students are throwing in.

X X
each other space so they don’t accidentally hit each other. The
students will wait for my command to retrieve the shot puts. T
Extension Up: Students can try throwing the shot put with the
correct windup to generate more power with the throw.
Extension Up: Students will take a couple steps then throw the
javelin.
Skill Cues:
● Gripping the discus: with dominant hand, fingers
spread out.
● Stance: Shoulders faced towards the field that the
students are aiming. If they are a righty, left foot in
front. Lefty, right foot in front.
● Release: At eye level.
● Throwing motion: Feet are stationary. The turn is all in
the hips transferring your weight from your back leg to
your front. Arm that is holding the discus goes from low
to high.
