IT WILL NEVER BREAK ME

A TV show based on real life issues. The story would be based upon an individual who has
moved abroad for studies. There he make new friends and is eager to explore different
cultures. The show would be based upon the hardships that he faces during his 4 years of
graduation, the encounter between different cultures and their rich traditions and the battle he
had to fight with himself and others to overcome those hardships.
The tagline of this show would be “When Life Seems to Break You Down, Dare to Fight Back”
It will never break me is a story based on reality and is aiming to create self-awareness among
the youth, catering the issues they face on daily basis and providing them with solutions that
could impact their life and motivates them to fight back. Furthermore, the show would be
highly emphasizing different cultures giving its viewer an insight on different traditions followed
by different people breaking certain stereotypes that one holds in their mind.
PRESENT MARKET SIZE
The US TV series industry is one of the most spread broadcast in the world with around 76% of
the world television program. The revenue of the TV industry is more than 150 billion USD and
with an annual growth of 6.2%. (1). According to Genre breakdown of the top 250 TV program
in United States in 2017 33% of primetime TV programs were drama (2). The aim is to capture
10% of the drama series industry initially as, there is already a high competition with the game
of thrones leading. Later, the aim is to expand this market share up to 25% in order to cater
more audience and help as many individuals to gain a new perspective of looking at things.
Apart from this, higher market share would create an element of curiosity that would be an
advantage while introducing a new season to it.
DEMOGRPAHICS
The targeted audience for this TV show is the youth aged 16 to 25, mainly the ones who are
enrolled in high school or colleges and are facing such issues in their daily life. Additionally, the
parents of these adults is also suitable audience for this show and the team is highly looking
forward to expand its domain of the targeted audience.
SHORT/LONG TERM PLAN
Initial plan is to broadcast this show on NBC which is one of the famous channels holding
around 7.8 million users. The length of the single episode would be kept around 30 mins and a
season would comprise of 13 episode. As per the plan the theme of the first season is to
explore different cultures as the individual on whom the story is based belongs from a high
middle class family of India and the friends he got in the college are from Nigeria, Sydney and
China. There would be highlights of hardships he faces during his travel from India to USA,
building new relationships and encountering different cultures and adapting accordingly. The
season 2 is themed upon the 4 years of studies that made him question his potential and
demands him to give up. The societal pressure, peer pressure and family responsibilities are
one of the key elements that would be covered. The season 3 would be the final one which
would be covering the healing part from these hardship. It would be focusing different
strategies to control mind and to overcome hardships. Furthermore, the show would be
broadcast at 9 so it is feasible for a family to watch together. Initially the TV would only be the
medium to broadcast this series but, later the episodes would be available on the online forums
such as Netflix and YouTube.
PROMOTIONAL VEHICLES: Thomas Crea would be invited on the release of the show and would
be asked to share his thoughts on this series. The technique of word of mouth would be an
attraction to audience. The trailer would be designed with a suspense hidden which would
create eagerness among the audience to watch the show. The team has decided to arrange
different motivational sessions for the children of high school and college regarding the self-
worth. There would a short quiz at the end of the first five episodes, answering right to those
questions can give a chance to winner to meet the cast of this TV show and have dinner with
any one of their favorite character. Apart of this the team is willing to sponsor the event in
collaboration with the Mountain Dew that promotes a similar tagline “DAR KA AGAY JEET HAI!”
The promotion of the show would be done through advertisement before the start of the
popular show The Manifest. The advertisement would be of 2 minutes and would show the
trailer of the show.
This TV show is catering many real world issues that is faced by majority of the youth all over
the world. Furthermore, it provides a chance to its audience to explore different cultures and
their faith and believes. It would provide them with a new perspective to look at situation
helping them to break certain stereotypes that they have heard for long. Apart from rather
than just highlighting the daily life issues this the show is focusing on solutions, strategies and
methods to overcome such problems. The advantage of this show is that it is giving different
dimensions of thinking on a single issue.
According to the recent study the recent TV series that are catering similar issues is 13 Reasons
Why? That is based on the story of 18 year old girl who committed suicide and left 13 reasons
for doing it. Another TV series with a similar high school struggling is Grown-ish and Europhia.
All of the three TV series mentioned are covering the societal issues greatly faced by youth
while their journey to colleges. But none of them actually is talking about strategies to
overcome it or talks about min power or how to turn your negatives to positives.
OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS
One of the opportunity is that none of the TV series is introduced covering such versatile topics
such as different cultures, issues faced and methods to gain mind power. One of the threats is
that the TV series with drama genre is highly competitive with series like 13 reasons why
already covering majority of the audience.
