privacy , the right to property and choice of place of life for many families in
Romania. It's about deportations that took place immediately after the war (since
1945 ) or early 50s. These phenomena are due to the political crisis started in the
30's (or "European Civil War" as it was called by historians) and occurred with the
greatest intensity during and after World War II. The deportation of ethnic
Germans from Banat (Romanian historical region located in the southwest of the
country) began in January 1945. In December 1944 Moscow decides to deport
German population from Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and
Yugoslavia. This population would be used for forced labor. The measure was
obvious unfairness because it was a group of citizens belonging to another state
and who were not at all responsible for the political and military situation of the
USSR. After time estimates, the total number of deported from Banat in the USSR
in January-February 1945 amounted to approximately 23,000 to 30,000 citizens.
Another tragic chapter in the same area is the deportations of 1951 , when , due
to strain relations between Romania and Yugoslavia ( which was excluded from
the Comintern in 1948), the Romanian authorities on the Soviet model , take
measures deportăii ethnic Serbs , but and Romanian and German border area of
Yugoslavia. Romanian, German, Serbian, Bulgarian, refugees from Bessarabia and
Northern Bukovina, and Aromanians have been deported starting from June 18,
1951. Were set up labor camps in Plain Bărăganului, Ialomiţei area and in Galaţi".
In total, after an approximate estimate, it appears that this stage of deportation
targeted 40,000 people.
