Global Warming

What does global warming means and how can we help to lessen its
effects?

One of the biggest problems facing us today is global warming.

Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the
average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change
that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate. The main
cause of global warming are the greenhouse gasses such as carbon
dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone chlorofluorocarbons that came
from our daily activities and get collected into the atmosphere and form a
cover around the Earth which traps the hot radiations making our planet
warm by increasing temperature.

Day by day, we are feeling great changes in the atmosphere and

climate of the Earth. The natural disasters we are facing now a day such as
earthquakes, storms, thunder, etc. are the result of global warming. Some
of the effects of global warming are rise in sea levels worldwide, more killer
storms, massive crop failures, widespread extinction of species, and
disappearance of coral reefs.

In order to lessen its effect, we must first do the 4R's- reduce, reuse,
recycle, and respect. We should reduce our waste and the use of non-
renewable resources like the fossil fuels, reuse the things that we can still
use, recycle old things to make a new one, and respect our environment
and natural resources. We must also plant more trees, conserve water, use
CFL bulbs use cloth/eco bags, eat what we can only consume, and join
carpool or just ride a bike.

As what Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong once said, “We will because
we can. I want everybody to know that all things are possible and things
are feasible if we work together." If we make small changes now in the way
we live, we can avoid huge changes in the future. Everyone must work
together to overcome this threat. Together, let's make a difference.
