Re: Proposal for the Worker Shortage
———————————————————————————————————————

Problem:
Recently, you, the manager at Good Eats Restaurant, have been trying to hire more workers.
However, we have been having a rather difficult time finding anyone qualified and interested.
With spring break and summer coming up, we will need the extra help more than ever. These are
our busiest seasons, so this is the reason my bosses are so stressed. We need more workers, but
they are unsure how to get more people interested.

Purpose:
For Good Eats Restaurant to strive, we need to have enough employees. With the amount right
now, people are getting over worked, and it is extremely difficult to get shifts covered when you
cannot work one. If we solve the shortage problem, we will be helping the current employees out
and in doing so, we will be helping the business. I believe that I can come up with a solution to
motivate more people to apply, so we can hire more qualified workers and flourish during the
upcoming seasons.

Topics to Investigate:
• Ways to get people interested in applying for a job

• Qualities and traits most essential in this job

• Successful methods for hiring in businesses near Good Eats Restaurant

Audience:
My primary audience is you, the owner of Good Eats Restaurant. Studying this problem would
also benefit and improve the restaurant for staff and patrons. However, other business owners
and managers would also benefit through this because they would be able to use this as an
example to hire their own employees.

Methods and Resources:

I will use the Florida Today website, national employment statistics, and employment websites
to research the problem and find the best solution. I will also use my own experiences of how I
discovered and applied for jobs in the past, and I will ask my coworkers and friends the same.
Through this gathering of data, I should be able to come up with a few solutions, if not one, that
will help solve the problem.

Qualifications and Resources:

I have been working at Good Eats Restaurant for seven months, so I know what is expected and
needed for the job. I know all the challenges that applicants will face if they are hired, and I
know what it is like to be looking for a job. I was searching for a job for almost two months
before I got hired because most of the places I was interested in were not hiring. I could not find
much advertisement for businesses actually looking for workers, and the only way I knew Good
Eats Restaurant was hiring was from my friend who worked there. I know many businesses that
have a much larger number of employees than needed, so I can use their methods as a reference.
For this project, I will not need many resources. I can conduct the majority of this product with
no cost besides the minor costs for travel and printing. Proposal to Study Worker Shortage 3
