Wilderness Field Instructor March, 2015 — August, 2015
 Lead 8 -day courses of up to 12 at-risk teens into the Pisgah National Forest, accounting for 24-hr
safety and supervision. Each week, 2 days were spent at a layover site conducting life skills and
therapeutic activities with Field Therapists.
 Participated in pre-course trainings, mid-course evaluation, and a post-course debriefing. Trainings
involve therapeutic strategies, hard-skills training, field safety, field logistics, etc.
 Inspired and created self-reliance and personal care standards, insuring student safety and success.
 Worked with the student’s as a teacher guiding them through a curriculum that includes emotional
growth skills and academics.
 Collaborated with Field Therapist in order to devise practical strategies to re-frame student’s
unhealthy beliefs with positive, healthy beliefs.
 Facilitated practice of treatment goals via primitive skills instruction, simulated families, search and
rescue techniques, map and compass navigation, team-building initiatives, ropes course, personal
reflection activities, journal writing, etc.

 Transports patients with an automated external defibrillator (AED) to and from nursing units,
