Identify the Need
Design challenges come from identifying a need to a problem. During your two year
Mandatory Technology course, you will be given many design challenges.

Design Situation
My group and I are doing obesity. We are going to cook brown rice with salad and
teriyaki chicken because we don’t want a big change but little steps for the obese
person. It is also not too fatty and yummy at the same time.

Design Brief
We are learning about Diet-Related Disorders. We got to choose from obesity, anemia,
bulimia, anorexia and more. “The major causes of death in Australia are linked to diet
and lifestyle.” We are trying to learn more about this so we can help and inform
ourselves of the importance of health.......................................................................................

In order to complete this project, what will you need to do? Make a list of

Be organized-have full recipe ready

communication- communicate clearly so that there is nothing wrong

research- make sure nothing is plagiarized

 skills- make sure we can do what is in the recipe otherwise it will go wrong.

 Practice- Practice for the final product so we don’t make any mistakes and
know the procedure.

Learning equipment-it’s good to learn the equipment for the kitchen.

Listening to instructions- So we don’t burn anything or get in trouble

 Resources- So we have everything needed.

Teamwork- So we can help each other if they need help.

 Planning-It’s good to have a plane before you make the food .

RESEARCH
Obesity occurs when a person consumes more calories than he/she burns. When
a person is obese they are 20% more than the average weight. Red meat and
processed foods are not recommended for obese people. Soft drinks containing
sugar are bad too and need to be cut down.

IDEAS
Think up ideas that may work. This stage should stretch your
imagination. Try and come up with original and unusual ideas.

Breakfast
Name: Bean avocado bread with eggs

Ingredients
• One slice bread
• One half of avocado
• One egg
• Small bole of beans
• Salt and pepper

How to do it step by step:


Get bread and cut a slice of bread, and then get half of
Your avocado and get a butter knife then spread the
Avocado on the slice of bread you got. Then get pot of
Hot water then bole the egg in the pot, then cut the egg
In half then put it on the bread then sprinkle a bit of
Salt and pepper on the food. Then you will get small
Bole of kidney beans in the bole on the side of your
Avocado bread egg, then you are done with your
Breakfast meal.

Lunch

Name: Teriyaki Chicken, rice and broccoli

Ingredients
 Garlic
 Ginger
 Honey
 Sesame oil
 Cornstarch
 Vinegar
 Soy sauce
 Vegetable oil
 Salt
 Pepper
 Chicken
 Broccoli
Instructions
Cook rice. Add garlic, ginger, honey, sesame oil, cornstarch, vinegar, soy
sauce in a saucepan and let it simmer. Then add the vegetable oil and
the chicken. Add salt and pepper while its cooking. Put the teriyaki sauce
in with the chicken and let it cook. Cook the broccoli. Put the rice in a
bowl and turn it upside down on a plate. Put the chicken on the side and
the broccoli on another side.

Snack: Cut up fruit.
