Class Grading Policy


There will be at least 12 DAILY GRADES every Six Weeks

These grades will be calculated from:


 Participation in Daily Warm-Up and Sight Singing Activities
o Expectations Include
 Participating in vocal warm-ups
 Participating in sight-singing and rhythmic exercises
 Having all materials daily
 Assessments and Daily Grades
o Expectations Include
 Participating in assessments and assignments evaluating
understanding and mastery of classroom concepts (Written
and oral)
 Active participation in the rehearsal of repertoire
 Completion of any written exercises

There will be at least 2 MAJOR GRADES every Six weeks

These grades will be calculated from:


 Concert Performances (ALL performances are at least TWO major test
grades)
o Expectations include
 Prompt arrival at call time
 Having all necessary, music materials
 Dressed in the correct, performance uniform
 Appropriate behavior before, during, and after the
performance
 Active participation in the performance, meeting or exceeding
performance standards of the Choral Department
 If unable to attend the concert, with teacher approval and
prior notice, written concert review within one week of

listening to the concert recording or another make-up exam
may be accepted as deemed appropriate by the teacher
 Performance Assessments/Written Tests
o Expectations include
 Individual and group singing assessments
 Sight-reading assessments
 Written exams covering learned materials

Students will be required to have a pencil and their choir binder with all required
music EVERY DAY. Students are allowed to take materials home for independent
practice or to complete assignments by checking out those materials from the
instructor. Failure to return materials daily may result in a decrease in grade.
