Carlos Becerra was a young boy in the 1980s. Read what he says about that time.
“I was a young boy in the 1980s. My cousins and I used to do a lot of fun things which shocked our
parents. We used to do things our parents never did. We used to have long hair, we wore dirty
sneakers, we went dancing but we didn’t use to smoke. We used to listen to Michael Jackson´s music
and we tried to dance like him. It was amazing. My father used to go fishing once a week. He always
wished that I would accompany him, but I didn’t like fishing. Instead, my cousins and I used to go for
picnics in the surrounding area quite often. My best friend had a car, a 1980 Chevrolet Chevette, so
he used to pick me up and we often drove to near towns around Cali. We went to the movies once a
month and I loved to watch films with John Travolta, especially ‘Grease’ starring by him. I still love to
watch this film. It’s my favourite. I can remember it all so clearly.”
