1. The diagrams below show magnets and unmagnetised iron. Add arrows to show the forces
they exert on each other. Underneath, write either ‘attract’ or ‘repel’. If there is no force, write
‘no force’. The first picture is done for your example.

3. The circuits shown below are made up of cells and lamps. Your task is to think about the current
that flows in each circuit.

a) Which circuit will have the smallest current in it? Give the letter.
B

b) Explain why this circuit will have the smallest current.

Because it only have one cell.

c) In the space below, draw a similar circuit that will have an even smaller current in it.

d) Which circuit will have the biggest current in it? Give the letter.
C

e) Explain why this circuit will have the biggest current.

Biggest it has 2 cells and one lamp.

f) In the space below, draw a similar circuit that will have an even bigger current in it.

4. When two components in an electric circuit are connected in parallel, the current divides so that
some flows through one component and the rest through the other component.
Look at the circuit diagrams below. For each diagram:
• Mark the positive (+) and negative (-) ends of the cell.
• Use your finger to trace how the current flows around the circuit. Mark with an X any point
where the current divides.
• Mark with a Y any point where the current recombines.
• Mark with a P any components which are connected in parallel with each other.
