Scope of Work – CNC Milling

Machine
In order to train students on Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software and CNC machinery, it is necessary
for us to purchase a well-rounded CNC machine. The primary purpose of the machine is to train students on the
basic software and applicable skills in real-world machining. A secondary use of the machine will be to help other
classes, campuses, and administration with various projects in the district.

We are seeking a machine with the following specs:

• 3-axis machining
• Cutting Area no less than 48” x 96” x 6” (allowing us to cut full sheets if material)
• An onboard spindle router with CNC speed control with a minimum of 2.2 HP
• 110 or 220 V single phase wiring
• A machine that is capable of supporting our current CAM software – Aspire
• A z-axis zero plate or similar mechanism which allows for perfect vertical height on each job
• Resolution of .001” or better
• Emergency stop capabilities for safety while working with students
• Vacuum hold-down capabilities

Additional Needs:

• Curriculum for secondary students taught by teacher


• Professional development or online training for teacher
• Certification on machine and/or software
• Tech Support

Typical uses:

• Cutting of sheet materials (various plastics, plywood, mdf, aluminum composite)


• Engraving, V-Carve plaques, and decorative woodwork
• Custom signs
• Various engineering projects requiring layers cut on machine
