Join Google Classroom:
 The supporting material for the Lab and Theory work of the subject will be managed
online using Google Classroom.
 You will submit the Lab work (Filled Lab Manuals, Assignments, Project Reports) and
Theory work online on this application.
 Go to https://classroom.google.com and search for the classroom with code 2vv81h. You
will find a class with name MCT-122 & MCT-122L : Electronic Devices and Circuits.
 Preferably you should use a Gmail account to join the class though you can do that with
other accounts also.

Filling the Lab Manuals:

An experiment is not considered complete until the results have been properly reported. One of
the primary tasks of an engineer is to interpret results of work, rather than just to gather data. A
good report helps you understand the concepts in the experiment, and also helps you when you
wish to discuss and communicate those results with others. A high-quality report allows a reader
to understand your results and gain the benefits of your insights.

So, here are some points you should keep in mind while filling up the Lab Manuals:
 Record the readings and data on your note-books.
 Always start by filling in the Name and Roll no. Any Manual without the Name / Roll no
will be given a zero.
 Write short and to the point answers to the review questions (if any).
 Enter a table for data recorded wherever it is necessary to show data.
 Use MICROSOFT EXCEL to generate plots for any data when you are required to
interpolate or plot the data graphically.
 Label any graph/plot properly and mention the scale.
 Use fritzing software to make circuit schematic. You can download the setup from here:
http://fritzing.org/

 Comments should be logical and meaningful observations you felt while performing the
experiment. They carry an appreciable portion of marks dedicated for a particular
manual.
 The name of the lab manual should be modified to Lab_Manual_#_YOUR ROLL NO.
e.g. Lab_Manual_2_2018MC500.
 Upload filled lab manual on Google Classroom.
 For circuit simulations, you will be using Proteus.
 Lab projects will require PCB designing. (Other details regarding projects will be shared
later).

Theoretical Calculation:
a) Use basic circuit analysis techniques of Resistor Combination and Voltage Divider Rule
to find Vout of above circuit.

b) Use the theory of Thevenin’s Theorem and calculate VTH and RTH.

c) Use Thevenin’s equivalent circuit and calculate Vout from that. Compare answers of part-a
and part-c.

[Use MS Word Equation tool to write equations. You can find this tool at InsertEquation]

Experimental Measurement:
a) With voltage source applied, remove RL and measure open-circuit voltage Voc also known
as VTH.

VTH =

b) Replace voltage source by short circuit and measure the RTH.

RTH =

c) Now vary the values of variable resistor and fill the table:

RL Vout Iout P= Vout * Iout

Maximum Value of Power:

RL which achieved Maximum Power:

Power Curve:
The power curve shows the relation RL and Power. Use Microsoft Excel to plot the data you
collected in the form of a curve and attach it below:
