Student Learning Activity 1 - As a class, we will discuss the importance
of internet safety. We will define personal information, and exchange views on possible consequences of disclosing personal information online. 2 - Working in groups of four, students will research internet safety rules, and develop a list of important internet safety tips. 3 - Groups will create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) emphasizing how they, and their peers, can remain safe online. They will first storyboard their PSA. 4 - Students will film their storyboards using IPads or IPhones. 5 - Groups will edit their PSAs using IMovie, Adobe Spark, or a similar program of their choice. (Technology Extend Level) 6 - PSAs will be provided to the morning announcements broadcast team so that one PSA can be broadcast each day school wide.

Student Learning Activity 1 - To introduce the lesson, we will have a
class discussion about finding accurate information online. Further, we will go over the importance of citing sources correctly once we’ve found credible information. 2 - Our guest expert, our school media specialist, will come in and share a content curation she created. 3 - Students will each select a topic that is of personal interest to them. They will research to find websites that are credible, reliable sources of information on that topic. 4 - Students will select a content curation tool of their choice (Scoop.it, Google Keep, Symbaloo, Listly, or another) and make a curated resource list of the sources of credible information they found on their selected topic. 5 - Students will create a list of citations for the websites they’ve added to their curation. 6 - Students will publish the link to their content curation to a web repository so that other students who are interested in their topic have a wealth of reliable resources to explore. Technology is utilized on the extend level.
Assessment Students are assessed on the completed
content curation, as well as the cited list of sources.
