Student Learning Activity 1 - As a class, we will discuss the importance


of internet safety. We will define personal
information, and exchange views on possible
consequences of disclosing personal
information online.
2 - Working in groups of four, students will
research internet safety rules, and develop a
list of important internet safety tips.
3 - Groups will create a Public Service
Announcement (PSA) emphasizing how they,
and their peers, can remain safe online. They
will first storyboard their PSA.
4 - Students will film their storyboards using
IPads or IPhones.
5 - Groups will edit their PSAs using IMovie,
Adobe Spark, or a similar program of their
choice. (Technology Extend Level)
6 - PSAs will be provided to the morning
announcements broadcast team so that one
PSA can be broadcast each day school wide.

and ethically for my own projects?

Student Learning Activity 1 - To introduce the lesson, we will have a


class discussion about finding accurate
information online. Further, we will go over
the importance of citing sources correctly
once we’ve found credible information.
2 - Our guest expert, our school media
specialist, will come in and share a content
curation she created.
3 - Students will each select a topic that is of
personal interest to them. They will research
to find websites that are credible, reliable
sources of information on that topic.
4 - Students will select a content curation tool
of their choice (Scoop.it, Google Keep,
Symbaloo, Listly, or another) and make a
curated resource list of the sources of
credible information they found on their
selected topic.
5 - Students will create a list of citations for
the websites they’ve added to their curation.
6 - Students will publish the link to their
content curation to a web repository so that
other students who are interested in their
topic have a wealth of reliable resources to
explore. Technology is utilized on the extend
level.

Assessment Students are assessed on the completed


content curation, as well as the cited list of
sources.

email as collaborators:

Student Learning Activity 1 - As a class, we will view a poorly designed


website, and discuss what needs
improvement. We will then review a well
designed site, and discuss what is great
about it.
2 - Students will use the resources on the
Google Keep content curation to view
principles of web design, and tutorials on
building their own website.
3 - Students will choose a website building
application, such as Weebly or Google Sites,
and build a website about the topic they
chose during Lesson 2.
4 - Each site will have content that will be
cited properly.
5 - Each site will be created with internet
safety in mind, with no personally identifying
information about the website creator.
6 - Students will publish their sites.
