Composite Areas

Composite structures are sensitive to damage caused by ground servicing equipment. Damages to the external aircraft
surface do not always reveal possible internal structural damages.
NOTE:
Damages to the fuselage are not always as evident as damage occured on the metal structures.
Due to the nature of the composite material any impact must immediately be reported to the cockpit crew.

Chocking and Coning

Placing of wheel chocks

After the aeroplane comes to a complete stop:

- Temporarily place chocks forward and aft of the nose landing

gear (NLG).

This is the first action to take place around the aeroplane and shall
be completed before any other equipment may move towards the
aeroplane. After the engines have been switched off are spooling
down and anti collision lights have been switched off:

- Place chocks forward and aft of the main landing gear (MLG) in
accordance with the chock placement diagram.
- Remove the temporary placed chocks at the nose landing gear (NLG).
- Give the "chocks inserted" hand signal to the cockpit crew.

NOTE:
When the aircraft is parked for more than 6 hours or during night stops and
/ or in high wind situations, the nose landing gear (NLG) chocks must not
be removed. In case the chocks are necessary, there shall be a gap of
approximately 50 mm between the chocks and the NLG wheels.

Removing wheel chocks

Removal of the chocks is to be done as follows:

Open stands: (taxi out)

- Slightly prior to aeroplane start up procedures, position chocks forward and aft of the nose landing gear (NLG), in
accordance with the chock placement diagram shown in above.
- Request approval from cockpit crew and remove main landing gear (MLG) chocks.
- Once start-up procedures are completed and approval for NLG chock removal has been received from the cockpit
crew, remove NLG chocks and stow them in the designated area.

Stands requiring pushback

- Ensure that tow bar / tow truck combination (tow bar pushback) or tow truck (towbarless) is hooked up to the aircraft
and that the aeroplane hand brake is set.
- Remove MLG chocks and store them in the designated area.

Engine starting
If the APU of the CS100/CS300 is unserviceable or not operating, electricity required for engine starting must be
supplied by a ground power unit 115/200 Volt AC /400 Hz.

Airflow (lbs/min) Pressure (psi)

- minimum 30.3

Disconnecting electrical power

In order to avoid any power spikes which influence the computers, it is essential to follow these steps when disconnecting
the power source from the aircraft.
- After switching from external power to APU, cockpit crew has to wait 5 seconds before giving the “OK” to ground staff
to disconnect power source.
- The ground power must be deselected with the EXT PWR switch “IN USE/AVAIL” and shut down completely before
receptacle may be disconnected.

10
Aeroplane Information Bombardier CSeries 100 / CSeries 300

Placing of marker cones

A minimum of 4 marker cones shall be used and are to be placed as

shown in the depiction.

- 1 marker cone on each wing-tip. The distance between marker cone

and the wing tip shall not be greater than 1 metre.

- 1 marker cone on the forward edge of each engine. The distance

between marker cone and engine shall not be greater than 1 metre.

NOTE:
The cones should be removed just prior to departure to ensure
maximum protection of the aeroplane.

Loading

Ground stability CS100

Loading / unloading of load in lower compartments

According to the AHM Aeroplane Guide Chapter 1.5.6.4.

The loading supervisor must make sure that during all phases of the loading/unloading operations the mass of load in
compartment 1 is never lower than the minimum given in the table in the AHM Aeroplane Guide Chapter 1.5.6.2.

In case of baggage search prior to departure, ground stability limitations stated in the AHM Aeroplane Guide Chapter
1.5.6.2 "Mass distribution" apply.

Groundstability Table in the AHM Aeroplane Guide Chapter 1.5.6.2

General

Load in the rear compartments and passengers in Y-class can move the centre of gravity so far to the aft that tail down
tipping can occure. It is thus necessary to take precautions to secure ground stability of the aeroplane during loading
and unloading operations.

Mass distribution

The table below gives the minimum mass of load required in compartment 1 to secure ground stability of the aero-
plane during loading and unloading operations.

Cabin version CS300

Non-maintenance aircraft
The CS100/300 has been declared as a “Non – maintenance” aircraft (at outstations). Therefore, no maintenance staff
is foreseen to be present at the CS100/300 for a turnaround or for any night stops.

This means that no maintenance contracts are established taking the CS 100/300 into consideration.
Therefore in case of technical issue with the aircraft, troubleshooting is done by the cockpit crew together with
SWISS T. In case the problem can’t be resolved, a "go team" will be dispatched from ZRH/GVA.

Entry Into Service (EIS)

Please find below a summary of the various issues faced to date with the corrective measures that can be implemented
at station level in order to help the turnaround process:

TRIM
This is probably the biggest challenge to date as the aircraft is particularly “Tail heavy”. In order to minimise this condition:

1) Plan the maximum deadload into the forward compartment 1. Wherever possible ensure correct baggage category
separation. However, getting the aircraft within its trim limits has the highest priority.
2) On flights that are not full, please block the last 2 rows in the Y-cl section → Rows 25 and 26
3) Keep sufficient ballast bags on standby. Should ballast have been used on the outbound flight from ZRH, please
keep it on board and return it to ZRH on the same flight (provided payload restrictions allow for it)
4) Pilots have been asked, whenever possible, to uplift a minimum of 6’000 TOF. This widens the trim margins.
5) As with the A320P, please consider a change of curtain version. The same requirements apply here as for the
A320P. For information, we have adapted the Altéa system in order for the C-cl cabin to be proportional to the C-cl
booking figure. This should minimise (but not altogether avoid) the need to change the curtain position and
subsequently any seat changes.

Together with several SWISS departments and Bombardier, further initiatives are being looked at notably:

A reduction of the potable water.

The potable water reduction down to 50% has been implemented on 05AUG16. Any uplift will be performed in ZRH and
is sufficient for the out- and inbound leg. Upon arrival of the aircraft in ZRH, water tanks will be drained and refilled. The
DOM/DOI details have been adjusted in order to include 50% water uplift.

Minimum Take-Off Weight

For the CS100 a minimum Take-Off Weight of 48'081 kg is required.

For the CS300 a minimum Take-Off Weight of 49'900 kg is required.

Engine cool down time

The C-series currently requires an “Engine Cool Down” period of 3 minutes from the moment the aircraft touches down.
If the taxi time to the gate is shorter than 3 minutes after touch down, handling activities will have to be postponed until
after this cool down period.
Should local airport regulations require a single engine taxi, this will extend the cooling down period by a further 3
minutes.

Pushback
Before connecting the towbar or the TLTV (Towbarless vehicle) please ensure that following steps are taken:

1) Check with the cockpit if ok to connect the tow bar or the TLTV.
2) After confirmation from the cockpit, connect the tow bar or the TLTV
3) Only move the aircraft once the green light is visible on the towing control box attached on the gear shaft.

Inadvertent APU shut down by ground crew on C Series

Several cases of APU auto shut downs minutes before push back have recently been reported by our cockpit crews.
After some research it appears as if a possible cause for these APU shutdowns could be the ground crews confusion
between the CS100/300 and the Embraer E-190 aircraft.
The E-190 has a push/tow switch at a similar location on the ground service panel to the red APU SHUT OFF switch on
the C Series. When activated, this switch will immediately remove all power from the aircraft and all systems and lights
are lost. It will take the cockpit crew a minimum of 15 minutes to recover power to the aircraft and re-program all the
systems. Therefore the APU SHUT OFF switch must NOT be used and unlike the E-190, no switching is necessary
before pushing back the CS100/300.
