- Lower cycle life (~1500 cycles @80%DoD) + Better utilization and depth of discharge
- Lower round trip efficiency (~80%) - Lower power to energy ratio and limited overload
(discharge)
▪ Lead-Acid Replacement are batteries designed to operate as drop-in replacement for lead-acid
▪ BMS communication with inverter: SoC, Voltage, Temperature, Max Charge current, Max Discharge
Current… that may change (based on operating conditions)
▪ The communication is used to dynamically update charging/discharging settings. In this case the
battery safe operation is guaranteed by both, BMS & inverter.
▪ Easier setup and configuration using charge regulation directly from the BMS (no need to configure
charge settings as part of inverter commissioning – dynamic adaptation to BMS)
▪ Better utilization of the maximum available charge / discharge current based on ambient conditions
e.g. temperature
▪ Improved state transitions and charge regulation using the SOC information from the BMS
▪ Improved regulation to avoid nuisance tripping by the battery BMS (as we’re adapting to BMS)
▪ Improved AC coupling (SoC is more stable than voltage for this control)
▪ Li-ion Controls based on SOC provide significantly improved accuracy for state transitions (e.g. Re-
charge, Grid Support, Load Shave, AC Coupled Charge Regulation)
▪ Control based on battery voltage works well for lead-acid with more linear slope of voltage vs SOC

ParallelPower – supplements AC Grid input helping to avoid peak utility charges (by Peak Load Shaving)
PowerCoupling – AC Coupling uses Active Frequency Shift to curtail the output of compatible PV inverters, maintaining the
balance between generation and consumption. Only possible when hybrid inverters work as grid forming (NO AC INPUT).
GridSell – allows to sell the excess of energy to the grid when allowed by utility (only XW+).

Multi-unit and Multi-cluster
In AC pass-thorugh the units are connected to the same AC source and share fairly even currents to
the loads. All relays operate synchronized in the event of grid qualification or misqualification, but we
cannot assure that all close or open at the exact time…
Confidential Property of Schneider Electric | Page 37
Multi-Unit Design Considerations
• Due to this, first to close or first to open has to manage the overall load current while the others close
or open…
• If this overall load current is > 60A, this will deteriorate or even fuse the relay
• This potential hazardous situation, limits max amount of pass-through current rate in Multi-Unit
configuration to 60A per phase(normally 2 units in parallel per phase):
• 1PH: 60A x 230V = 13.8kW FOR LARGER SYSTEMS ALTERNATIVES…
• 3PH: 60A x 230V x 3 = 41.4kW
Confidential Property of Schneider Electric | Page 38
Multi-Unit Design Considerations
• We use external connection/disconnection means…
• As an example, on 1PH, we use an automatic transfer switch managed by Master XW Pro unit
