PRAYER OF THE DAY

Our Abba in Heaven,

We thank You today for cherishing the gift of life with our souls once again. Sincerely do we vow
ourselves to Your Tanakh, and further resist the temptations through the rule of the Torah. May eacb
pronunciation you deliver through our words be the source of inspiration for all.

Today, we ask for Your guidance and blessing for us to bring healing to those with carcinoma of the
lungs. May each cancerous cell that divides in their respiratories be extorted away through Your
healing name. Your mercy will drive them away, o, Adonai.

Adonai, Eloheinu Melekh Ha’Olahm. [Lord, Ruler of the Stars and the Universe.]

Amen.

ABOUT CARCINOMA

“Lung cancer, or lung carcinoma is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled cell
growth in tissues of the lung. Most cancers that start in the lung, known as primary lung cancers, are
carcinomas.”

Th e main individual whom I recognized with her might and strength throughout her 4 stages
of cancer is my grandmother, Vicenta Pavico. Her courage to undergo chemotherapy and water down
the effects of lung cancer within her brings light to my main topic: how strength is seen throughout
the withers and suffering of life.

Having suffered carcinoma for roughly two-and-a-half years, my grandmother constantly

fought against it. Losing her hair, using wigs, made her weak - however, this did not hinder her from
accomplishing her dream of providing for our family. An OFW caregiver in the United States, my
grandmother sends financial and nurturing help over through LBC, in balikbayan boxes.

Her dream started when she moved to the “bayan” [urbanized area] after she lived in an island
with her father and biological mother for sometime. She was denied education due to her other
siblings’ jealousy of her being the main family, knowing that her father has several families. She gave
birth at age 16 to my grandmother, Merry Ann. She then moved away, at her mid-life, to move to the
United States. There, together with her other 8 children, lived in prosperity. Now, her battle with
carcinoma has ended, and she is now growing long, curly hair, living to the ripe age of 81.

May she be a model to all, with her strength and durability - but maybe not so much with her
jueteng skills. She still awesome, though!
