Title Employee Engagement Improvement Strategies


Leaders of all Departments within Monterey County who wish to improve
employee relations and performance within their department. Leaders include
Department Managers, Supervisors, and Department Heads.

Through training provided by the Capstone, Leaders within Monterey County


will become more informed about the many facets involved in creating a

sustainable and positive work environment that encourages positive outcomes in
employees.

Learners have varied experience with technology and Employee Engagement. It


is assumed that targeted learners are able to access a device and employee
database to complete training.
Following implementation of a County-wide Employee Engagement Survey,
County Leaders have identified a need for training in the various areas of
Employee Engagement. Training will focus on ways to improve employee
engagement in categories of need as identified from survey results.

The Employee Engagement Survey measures the following areas: career


development, work engagement, compensation, benefits, work environment, job
satisfaction, and communication of your team Supervisor, Division Management
Problem and Department Leadership.
Analysis
Survey completion across the County is currently 52%. It is hoped that training
Leaders in many facets of positive Employee Engagement will result in
employees being more motivated to participate as a result of a more positive
work environment.

Digital delivery of material is preferred as employees are spread across the entire
County. Employees access information through an employee information
database.
Provided employee improvement strategies, Monterey County Leaders will be
able to implement a chosen improvement strategy within their department.
Objectives
Given employee improvement strategies, Monterey County Leaders will identify
appropriate strategies to apply based on area of need identified in survey analysis.
Monterey County Leaders will be able to define employee engagement.

Provided a list of Employee Engagement Strategies and other non- related


strategies, Leaders will be able to correctly identify what is and is not Employee
Engagement.

Given various statements about workplace scenarios, Leaders will be able to


identify if the leader effectively employee an Employee Engagement Strategy.
A summative assessment of learning will be incorporated at the end of the
Captivate lesson. A variety of assessment questions will be used including
Assessment multiple choice, matching, and short answer. Results will be automatically
generated of learner success. Answers will include explanations further
explaining why it is correct.
Gagne’s Nine Events will be used to effectively structure instruction and
assessment of learning. Implementation of Segmenting Principle, Multimedia
Instructional
Principle, and Personalization Principle will also be use throughout the entire
Strategies
Capstone Project. Some aspects may not be in this brief 8-10 minute segment of
training.
Adobe Captivate will be used for majority of Capstone. Instructional videos will
