A Proposed Curriculum on Environmental Literacy

Title: Environmental Literacy

Description: This Environmental Literacy Curriculum is designed to introduce the basic learning theories
and principles as bases for the design, development, management, implementation, monitoring, and
evaluation of environmental advocacy. Students are expected to focus on the need to improve
environmental problems, issues, challenges, and offers possible solutions. Furthermore, the curriculum
activities are focused on the different methodology, approaches, techniques, best practices, and actual
presentation of the different advocacies and environmental literacies inside and outside the campus.

General Objective of the Program


At the end of this course, the students should be able to:
1. Trace the historical and theoretical roots of environmental literacy;
2. Identify and describe the role, functions, advantages and limitations of environmental literacy;
3. Distinguish the different types of environmental advocacies and environmental literacies inside and
outside the campus;
4. Manifest creativity, resourcefulness, economy, innovativeness, and ingenuity in the presentation,
development, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the environmental policies,
programs, projects, and activities; and
5. Produce environmental-based researches for policy reformation in the Philippines.

Intended Takers: AB History, Bachelor of Science Major in Biology, Bachelor of Secondary Education
Students.
