Synthesis Essay
It is beyond the doubt that one of the distinctive features of human beings is their ability to
acquire knowledge, and what makes this knowledge to man’s ability to impact this
knowledge to others. For many students who unable to come to college due to
employment, family responsibilities, health issues and other time constrains, online
education is the only best option. Computer multimedia offers good opportunities for
creating and developing visually enriched learning environments. Computer-based
systems have great potential for delivering teaching and learning material. The rapid
development of information and Communication Technology, particularly the internet, is
one of the most attractive miracles describing the information age. The article,
EXPERIMENTING ICT IN TEACHING ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE written
by D.Parad explains that the process of comprehension and acquisition are closely
related. Thus, collective reading leads towards better comprehension of literary concepts
and in turn it helps in better acquisition and understanding of literature. The students
rarely read the things prescribed in the curriculum. It comes out of the illusion that
students will go to libraries and read. Even when websites are referred to in a classroom,
approximately 10% of the students will actually visit and read the website. The problem in
not reading web-resources nor the lack of eagerness to learn, but a lack of infrastructure in
obtaining easy access to the internet.
Moreover, he defines the teachers of English in colleges other than those teaching
literatures in English are like fish out of water. These teachers are stuffed with literary
theories as they pursue careers in commerce or science or engineering colleges, they may
feel like aliens on the earth. Similar were my feelings when he joined college, thanks to
technology that it saved him from being alienated or feeling like a fish out of water.
Slowly and steadily during the years passed, he developed some innovative methods to
teach business English as well as literary text to management and business students.
Similarly, the article Challenges for Using ICT in Education: Teachers’ Insights by
H.Salehi and Z. Salehi, the hypothesis states that the process of using internet
technology in everyday education is very tough. The chances supported by ICT to provide
teaching and learning are not problem-free. The virtually limitless opportunities of access
to information in an educational context can pose a real danger of information overload if
the teachers do not have the skills in filtering information for relevance, or are unable to
establish a coherent organizing principle. Both students and teachers may lack the
necessity skills to access, process and use information. Even there are a number of
difficulties which act as barriers and prevent teachers to integrate internet technology into
the classroom. This belief is a clear indication of the high school teachers’ familiarity with
ICT however, this does not necessarily mean that the teachers will integrate internet
technology into the curriculum. Less than one fourth of the respondents were limited users
of internet and just two teachers had never personally used internet technology. When the
teachers were requested to judge about themselves regarding the use of ICT in the
classroom, the majority of them, particularly two thirds of them stated that they never use
internet technology in the classroom or they prefer to use it very little. The results of the
conducted study confirm that students apply online tools eagerly in their reading practices,
almost 80% of the researched use ICT devices. Moreover, adolescents devote most of their
time to reading online resources, and websites are most favorite, which constitutes less
than one tenth of total quantity. Additionally, according to findings of Izabela Olszak
reading has always been regarded as one of the oldest features of human advancement,
furthermore, students confirm that online tools are beneficial while learning, and they help
to understand content of the written materials. The present study has been conducted to
clarify the impact of the internet surfing on reading habits of the teenage students. As the
internet technology tools constitute a sign of progress in various spheres of education and
a decisive factor to pursue demands of changing world, it is vital to engage them in the
reading development at schools, where she conducted research works. However, as the
research shows adolescents prefer borrowing books form libraries ten percent more than to
reading online versions. The findings of the present study show that the usage of
technological devices is quite popular among adolescents. They use technology in the
process of reading regularly. The study indicates the great benefits that the technology-
enhanced reading classroom can offer to its students, particularly in supporting to
understand texts.
All in all, the advent of accessing to the internet has made the process of learning a foreign
language in terms of all integrated skills easier and more effectively, However, successful
implementation of internet technology to lead change is more about influencing and
empowering teachers and supporting them in their engagement with students in learning
rather than acquiring computer skills and obtaining software and equipment.
