It has been noted that in the current world of learning, Internet has become a
necessary tool in enhancing education levels. Unlike the old age, the use of Internet has
brought more advantages and benefits. However, the use of Internet in higher
institutions has also negatively affect learners in a number of ways. With these two
aspects being brought out, the essay below seek to unveil the necessity and demerits of
internet in higher learning institutions.
To start off with, internet in higher learning institutions has become a necessity since it
provide a platform of sharing information amongst students. Soergel (2015) noted that
the use of Internet in higher institutions makes learners to share important information
and communication channels that will enhance their studies. According to the above
point, it then implies that internet has become a necessity in institutions since learners
are able to share ideas and communicate efficiently on matters concerning school work,
on the other hand increasing opportunities of learning outside classrooms. By them
having a chance to learn outside classrooms, one may be justified to note that the
internet has provided a platform whereby learners will be able to share information and
even revising and preparing for the next lessons which will help them to understand
even more hence improving the learner’s knowledge hence the internet is an
indispensable tool in institutions of higher learning institutions.
In line with the above, the internet has provided learners in higher institutions to have

idea concerning a certain topic or concept. This then amplifies that internet is an

with a wide variety of information that will upgrade learner’s knowledge hence more
chances of success. Internet also contains free text books and documents which then
means that it is an absolutely necessary tool since learners will have access to
information that can be found in expensive text books hence it has less costs. This then
gives almost every learner the opportunity to thrive academically hence the internet is a
necessity in institutions of higher learning institutions.

institutions since it can provide tutorials and information in form of videos hence
information is more vivid in expression. Toprakci (2008) stated the importance of
tutorials in videos in learning as he postulated that when a learner watch a an academic
video, the learner is bound to have a vivid picture of the concept or topic he/she’s
learning about for example watching a video of a recent topic that the learner would
have not understood . With this view being brought to light, it means that the use of
internet has made learning more easy and comprehensive since it provides a platform
of tutorials and videos that can help a leaner academically. With this happening it is
prudent to note that the internet has provided an easy way of learning since a video is
easy to watch and can be repeated again and again hence improving the learner’s
ability to understand a topic is widened. Furthermore the internet provides learners the
chance to learn outside classrooms through this hence it has positively impacted the
rate of understanding in higher education thus indispensable tool.
Furthermore the use of internet has become a necessity in institutions of higher
learning since it provides learners with frequently updated information. Brandstorm

upgraded time and again hence this would provide learners with new and more
information thus freshening their knowledge . This then proves that the internet is an
important tool in institutions of higher learning since it keeps learners up to date and
provides them with modern information that facilitates new various technogical
advancements hence keeping them updated. On another way since the internet is
regularly updated, it then means that learner’s minds are exposed to new innovations
thus it is very important. On another hand, updated material on the Internet provides
learners with a chance to even create new and modified ideas that will then promotes
new technological advancements hence the internet is an indispensable tool in
institutions of higher learning institutions as it instills with news ideas thus promoting
new advancements in respective communities.
However the internet negatively affect learners in a number of ways. In this case, the
use of internet in higher learning institutions has resulted in unethical acts and misusing
of this worldwide platform. With this happening, learners are bound to misuse the
internet through unethical means for example watching porn and even frauds.

toxic platform for learners as they are exposed to a number of unethical content that
will affect or damage their brains. With this happening it then means that the internet’s
indispensable factor is being undermined since learners can have access to unethical
material that will shift their focus from academic concentration. On another point of
view this then means the internet can contribute to the downfall of academic
performance by learners as they will be tempted by brain damaging materials found on
Internet hence undermining the positive impact of it. Furthermore, some learners can
opt to hack other learner’s social and economic platforms which then disadvantage the
victim hence producing young fraudsters that are bound to even cause problems to the
society in the future.
In conclusion, it is prudent to conclude that the internet is an indispensable tool in
institutions of higher learning institutions to a greater extent since it has more merits
that proved to be enhancing knowledge and innovations. However to a lesser extent
extent the use of Internet in higher institutions has also negatively impacted the
smooth learning of learners since it destructs them through unethical means.
