Introduction

Fifty Shades Darker is a 2012 erotic romance novel by British author E. L.


James. It is the second installment in the Fifty Shades trilogy that traces the
deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a
young business magnate, Christian Grey. The first and third volumes, Fifty Shades
of Grey and Fifty Shades Freed, were published in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
The novel is published by Vintage Books and reached No. 1 on the USA
Today best seller list.

As an every work of writing art, "Fifty Shades Darker" by Erika Leonard


James was endured by a great variety of expressive means and stylistic devices by
which the author discloses his world, outlook, his evaluation of objective facts and
phenomena.

The aim of this course paper is to give a detailed stylistic analysis of the
text of the aforementioned book and to define what is the purpose of using them in
general.

The following research which is concentrated on the stylistic analysis of a


text is based on the theoretical knowledge of the available stylistic resources and is
aimed at unfolding the author’s message through bringing out the implicit
information created by such means as the choice of vocabulary, the use of stylistic
devices of different language levels, the peculiarities of the presentation of
characters and events.

The course paper consists of Introduction, theoretical part, practical part,


Conclusion and Bibliography.
Introduction deals with the main purpose, methods and theoretical, practical
importance of the work. Also, here was given information about the structure and
brief plot of the course paper.

The first part of the paper is a theoretical overview of the book. The history
of creation, development and transformation into the movie will be explored. Also
this part includes reviews of different perspectives. The second - practical part is
considered to be the main part as it opens and elaborates the main theme of the
paper. Here all the stylistic devices of every level which are observed in the book
are defined and analyzed.

Conclusion is about the achieved result of the work under the chosen theme.

Bibliography deals with the alphabetical list literatures used in carrying out the
investigated work.

The reason as to why I have chosen this book for the research is due to the fact that
there is a tendency among the students to choose for the analysis only classic
written up to the twentieth century while there is such a great variety of modern
works of art which are worth of our attention. "Fifty Shades Darker" is one of
them.
