ESSAY BY CORONAVIRUS

The coronavirus disease pandemic, also known as the COVID-19 pandemic

and initially an epidemic of coronavirus pneumonia, is a pandemic caused by the
SARS-CoV-2 virus. The pandemic started on December 1, 2019 in the city of
Wuhan, in central China, when a group of people with pneumonia of unknown
cause was reported, so the virus was first isolated in that city. It is not the first virus
that exists since throughout history, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and
severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) have existed.
Coronaviruses are an extensive family of viruses that can cause disease in
both animals and humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause
respiratory infections that can range from the common cold to illnesses that are
more serious.
The Chinese authorities isolated the pathogen causing the outbreak soon
after: a new type of coronavirus (dubbed SARS-CoV-2) that has a 70% genetic
similarity to at least SARS-CoV, another type of coronavirus that caused the
epidemic. of 2002-2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and an 89%
genetic similarity to Bat-CoV-ZC45,18 a virus found in bats. For what is believed to
be of zoonotic origin due to contact with bats
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared on January 30, 2020 the
existence of a public health risk of international interest, under the regulations of
the International Health Regulations. Due to the speed with which the virus
spreads and the high number of people increasing more than 198,000 cases in 154
countries and more than 7,900 deaths as of March 18, 2020.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU ARE INFECTED?

The “incubation period” means the time between catching the virus and
beginning to have symptoms of the disease. Most estimates of the incubation
period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry
cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose,
sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually.
Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel
unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special
treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously
ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying
medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more
likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing
should seek medical attention.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease
can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth
which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These
droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch
COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or
mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person
with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to
stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.

WHAT THINGS MUST BE DONE AND WHAT MUST NOT BE DONE?

-You need regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an

alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

-You must not touch the surface of metals or machined objects

to be contaminated

-You must maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between

yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

-You mustn´t touch your eyes, nose and mouth. Because

hands touch, many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once
contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose
or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can
make you sick.

- You must make sure you, and the people around you, follow
good respiratory hygiene.

- You must not be where there is accumulation of people in

public places.

-You should not greet people with kisses or hugs.

-You need to stay home if you feel unwell.

-You must keep up to date on the latest COVID-19 hotspots

(cities or local areas where COVID-19 is spreading widely).

-You need to avoid traveling to places especially if you are an

older person or have diabetes, heart or lung disease.

COVID-19 is a virus recently discovered so there is not

much information about it and there is no cure for the disease it
produces, however it is known to be in the coronavirus family,
which cause respiratory diseases, they are easy contagion
through contact between the virus and mucosa. When getting
infected in this way it is recommended not to have contact with
other people and thus prevent being infected or infecting others. To avoid
contagion, the norms established by the authoritative local, regional and
international clubs must be followed. By not infecting yourself, you do not infect
others!
