What is Corona virus and COVID-19?

How can
we be safe from this deadly pandemic?
Corona viruses are a large family of viruses that can cause disease in human and animal life. Many
corona viruses in humans are known to cause respiratory infections from cold to more serious diseases.
Corona virus COVID-19 is the most recently identified outbreak.

COVID-19 has hit many countries worldwide as a pandemic. Fever, dry cough and fatigue are the most
severe symptoms of COVID-19. Pain, nasal congestion, painful gorge or diarrhea can occur in patients.
Normally, these symptoms are mild and start gradually. Others are infected but have only very mild
symptoms. Most people (approximately 80 percent) recover without medical care from the disease.
Around 1 in 5 people who get COVID-19 get severely ill and have breathing trouble. The risk of serious
disease is higher for the elderly and for people with underlying medical conditions such as high blood
pressure, heart and lung disorders, diabetes or cancer. However, everyone can catch and get seriously ill
with COVID-19.

How can we be safe and sound from this

corona virus disease?
1)With a hand sanitizer or soap and water you should clean your hands regularly. The use of soap and
water or of an alcohol-based sanitizer in our hands kills viruses that can be on our hands.

2) You should cover your mouth and nose and keep the distance from each other at least 3 feet (1
metre). If someone coughes, sneezes or talks, liquid droplets that contain a virus will stream from their
nose or mouth. If you are too close to the person(s) affected, you can encounter viruses.

3) You should not go to busy areas. The most convenient way to detect the latest coronavirus can be
crowded areas.

4) In your bare hands, you can stop touching something. The COVID-19 virus can contaminate your hand
and hands can pass the virus to your eyes, nose and mouth if your hands are infected. The virus will
come into your body from there and infect us.

5) You can seek medical attention if you have fever, cough and trouble respiring. You should call and
obey the local health authority's instructions. The most up-to-date details on your region should come
to the national and local authorities. You will soon be referred by your healthcare provider to the right
health facility. You and your family will also be safe from the spread of viruses and other infections.
6) Check for up-to-date news from reliable outlets such as the WHO or the local and national public
health authorities. It is better placed to educate local and national authorities about what people in your
area can do to protect themselves.
