Procedure 1. A ripple tank is set up as shown in diagram above.


2. Switch on the vibrator motor at a frequency of 10hz
3. Observe the water wave by using the stroboscope,
measure the wavelength and record it.
4. Repeat the experiment by using 20Hz, 30Hz, 40Hz
and 50 Hz.

Procedure 1. The depth of water, d, over a Perspex is measured by using a 15 cm


ruler.
2. The power supply is switch on to produce plane waves which
propogate across the Perspex plate. The waves are frozen by a
stroboscope. The waves are sketched on the screen.
3. The distance between 11 successive bright bands, x is measured by
ruler and recorded.
4. The wavelength is calculated  = x/10cm
5. The experiment is repeated 4 times by increasing the number of
Perspex plates to change the depth of the wave across the plate.
