Your New Dwarf Papillon

What your bun should eat:

● A high quality pelleted rabbit food
○ I recommend Heinhold Show Rabbit Formula (available at CJ Feed in Paola, KS),
Purina Show Rabbit Formula (available at Merriam Feed in Merriam, KS), and
Oxbow (available online and at pet stores)
○ Dwarf Papillons should be fed around 1/2 cup of food every day
● Timothy hay, Brome hay, Grass hay or Orchard Grass, you can’t give them too much as
long as it stays clean and fresh.
● Treats in limited amounts
○ Fresh veggies and fruits
○ Dark leafy greens and herbs
○ Oats
○ Dandelions and clover flowers (from untreated yards)
● Always have fresh water available for the buns, a 2 cup dish or large bottle is plenty for a
Dwarf Papillon, all of my rabbits are trained to drink from a bottle (unless otherwise told)
● Make sure that their area is free from cords, and anything you don’t want chewed on.
● Make sure that their area is in a quiet area of the house, to keep the rabbit from too much
stress
Where your bun should live:
● Indoors
○ In a wire bottom cage at least 1 1/2 feet by 2 feet with a resting mat available
○ In a solid bottom cage at least 2 feet by 3 feet
■ You should use equine bedding pine pellets or carefresh bedding in a thick
layer over the entire cage, or in a designated litter box
● Outdoors
○ In a large wooden hutch, with an entirely enclosed shelter available at all times,
this should be large enough for the bun to turn around and lay out.
○ Provide plenty of shade and breeze, as well as frozen water bottles or a frozen
floor tile for summer heat
○ Provide plenty of unfrozen water and hay in the shelter for winter months
Health information:
● It is your decision whether to spay or neuter your rabbit, do some research, however I do
not recommend unless necessary for behavioral problems.
○ Rabbits also do not have heat cycles so they can be bred at any point from 3
months on.
● Keep my phone number! I am very knowledgeable and if you ever have a health problem,
contact me and I can do my best to help you avoid a vet bill.
