Stonebreaker (Phyllantus niruri L.

) as Immunomodulator

1. Taxonomy

Species : Phyllantus niruri L.

2. Morphology
- Plant : green, high ± 50 cm
- Stem : light green, not gummy, round, diameter ± 3 mm, height ≤ 50 cm
- Leaf : green,at the bottom of the leaf there is a reddish spot
- Flower : small,white, in leaf axil
- Fruit : round, green, diameter 5-10 mm, tiny
- Root : yellowish white, 6 cm in adult plant

3. Ecosystem
Phyllantus niruri thrives on lowland to a height of 1000 m above sea level. Grow in a
moist and rocky place, between grasses. Phyllantus niruri grow wild in the forest, field,
garden, or home yard. Phyllantus niruri can be cultivated on vacant land or in pot. In
general, Phyllantus niruri does not maintained intensively because it is considered
ordinary grass.

- Tjandrawinata et al (2017) explains that Phyllantus niruri has been proven for its
capacity to modulate and activate the immune system.
- Wahjuni (2017) explains that the chemicals contained in Phyllantus niruri include
flavonoid and tannin. Flavonoids functioned as immunomodulator that used to boost
immune system and improve its dysfunctional.
- Shilpa (2018) explains that Phyllantus niruri does not have antifungial activity but has
potent immunomodulatory and antibacterial activities.

7. Immunomodulator Drug Preparation


Herbal Medicine by draying and boiling 15-30 g of Phyllantus niruri. And then drink a
Phyllantus niruri cooking water.
