Innovative Solutions for Tough

Flex-Turn Model 480 Transport Challenges
Today’s more complex and highly automated mechanised
systems in industries like food processing, electronics, parts
cleaning, heat-treating, and other sequential manufacturing
operations often pose significant handling challenges in
transporting product from one operation to another. While
most of these processes are handled straightforwardly by
modern conveying systems, no universal standard exists for
conveyor widths, belt types, turning and positioning systems,
or drive mechanisms in any given industrial situation.
This myriad of production component options all too often
ignores specific product requirements, with respect to
weight, size, speed, and degree of separation, along with
whether or not the product is fragile. That’s where
ConveyorTec excels! Whether it’s changing flow direction
of the product, spacing between parts, orientation of parts or
pieces, adjusting speeds and feed rates, or simply transferring
product from one segment of the operation to another,
ConveyorTec has a solution for you.

ConveyorTec offers a number of options that can eliminate

problems facing a manufacturer in their sequential
processing operations. For more than 50 years we have
been bringing solutions to difficult conveying challenges
in various industries. It started in 1952 with the first
Flex-Turn Conveyor which was built to assist a customer
in turning their production line 90 degrees to save
footprint space in their plant. As a result the customer
was able to save the cost of increasing production area.

ConveyorTec continues in the same innovative spirit

today…offering a wide range of Flex-Turn conveyors and
a remarkably diverse array of spreading and converging
conveyors. If you have an application where there’s a
requirement for change in direction, spacing of parts or
pieces, orientation changes, or other difficult handling
issue...call us. We’re here for you…ConveyorTec.

We are experts in direction, spacing, and

orientation changes in production lines.

Flex-Turn® Conveyor Systems

Flex-Turn® Conveyors
Field-proven and dependable Flex-Turn power turn units
gently convey products in process around corners while
maintaining proper product alignment. They offer the tightest
level transfer and smallest inside radius available. Smooth
product handling minimises potential damage to delicate
product. The compact design solves production line space
problems and makes cleaning and maintenance quick and
easy. Units may be floor or ceiling mounted, or incorporated
into existing conveyor framework.

Flex-Turn conveyors are fitted, as standard, with a 0.37kW

unwired variable speed drive unit, with a choice of two speed
ranges available from stock. Alternative single or variable
speed drive units, from different manufacturers, can be offered
on request.

The Flex-Turn conveyor belt is a unique, tapered pitch,

positively driven, stainless steel conveyor belt that does not
collapse upon itself to form a radius, thus greatly reducing
the potential for damage to products. Direction of travel may
be either right or left. Standard height of 950 mm is adjust-
able +/- 50 mm, with custom heights available upon request.
Flex-Turn Series Advantages Angles between 45 and 180 degrees may be special ordered
for all Flex-Turn conveyors.
• Gentle product handling minimises product damage
• Maintains product orientation around turns
• Unique non-collapsing tapered-pitch belt
• Easy to use, clean, and maintain

Flex-Turn® Series 300 Conveyor

The Series 300 conveyor is an open, stainless steel framed turn-
ing conveyor. This open structure maximises product exposure
and allows for the easy removal of debris or washing and
draining operations. All of this is accomplished while offering
unparalleled visual access of the conveyor structure for inspec-
tion and cleaning.

The conveyor is constructed of stainless steel, with a belt sup-

port surface of either stainless steel rails or stainless steel rails

Flex-Turn® Conveyor Systems

Flex-Turn® Series 400 Conveyor

The Series 400 Flex-Turn conveyor is a solid top turning
conveyor. The solid conveyor belt support bed prevents the
product from falling through the belt or becoming entangled
in the individual strands of the belt. These conveyors were
created for easy cleaning and maintenance.

There are three models of the Series 400 conveyor: the 416
and 432 conveyors share the same footprint as the Model 316
Model 416 Conveyor and 332 conveyors, having a inside radii of 406 mm and

ConveyorTec Spreader or Converger Specialty Conveyor

Custom Designed Solutions for

Product Transport and Positioning
In-line processes often require repositioning of product for
most efficient handling or aligned transport. This often cre-
ates a need to spread or converge products as they move
between processes. Equipment of different widths require
special conveyors to bridge the gap and integrate these
processing units into a smooth running and efficient produc-
tion line.

ConveyorTec offers custom-designed spreader or converger

conveyors in response to these in-line handling and convey-
This custom solution includes two “lane-type” convergers to com-
bine two production lines into one. ing challenges. These are positively driven transport con-
veyors that use multiple rows of narrow-width stainless steel
conveyor belt. Gentle product handling minimises potential
damage to fragile products. Rows of belt run over a food
grade high-density polyethylene (HDPE) support surface and
each belt is positively driven by a stainless steel sprocket.
This conveying system is designed and built to be easily
cleaned and sanitised. Hygiene and food safety are always
paramount considerations when choosing equipment for a
food-processing environment.

The standard design is a “fan-type” spreader or converger,

as shown, which positions product evenly on either side of
the conveyor centerline. Another common configuration is
called a “lane-type” where a series of parallel chains run at
an angle from the adjacent series of parallel chains. The lane

Take Advantage of Our Expertise
ConveyorTec™ traces its roots back to the J.W. Greer Company of Cambridge Massachusetts. From the early 1920’s, the J.W.
Greer Company designed and built world class food processing and conveying equipment for the bakery and confectionery
industries. The equipment from J.W. Greer Company became the standard that all other manufacturers attempted to achieve.

Wire Belt Co Ltd, having many years’ experience of building conveyors, launched ConveyorTec at the ANUGA Food Tec
exhibition in 2003. It takes real problem solving capabilities to develop equipment to address more complex product handling
problems. This is where ConveyorTec has outclassed the competition.

Over the years, ConveyorTec has designed and manufactured problem solving conveying systems to attack the toughest
challenges our customers could find. Our innovative approach to solving conveying problems has created some of the best
equipment available. Our conveyors are affordable, dependable, hygienic, and cost effective. This is the ConveyorTec
advantage…only from Wirebelt!
